Thrifted Lampshade = Celestial Dream Lamp✨🌞
Okay I have to show you guys this little side quest I have been on because it is actually turning out even better than I pictured in my head 😭✨
I thrifted this vintage beaded tassel lampshade for literally 2 dollars. It was already cute, but it was not in my color world at all, so I took an X Acto knife and cut off all the old tassels first. Then I dyed the shade with Rit synthetic dye in a blue and purple mix, and I got it to this perfect celestial lavender that feels dreamy and witchy without being too dark. I swear when it dried I just sat there staring at it like omg okay hi you are real now 🥹🌙
After that I started rebuilding the tassels from scratch. I did a bunch of research because I wanted them to actually hold up long term, and I landed on fishing wire. It sounds weird but it makes total sense because it is strong, it does not snap easily, and it still has a nice flow so the beads hang right instead of looking stiff. I have been making new strands with beads from Hobby Lobby in my little blue purple green gold vibe, plus some pearlescent and iridescent ones so they catch the light like tiny stars ✨🪐
I did not even have a lamp base when I started this. I was just trusting the vision and assuming the right base would show up eventually. And then last week I go into HomeGoods and I find the most perfect little table lamp for like 20 bucks. Vintage purple glass base and gold accents. Like it literally looks like it was made for this shade. I have never felt more validated by the universe in my life 😂💜
She is still in progress so you are seeing the journey with me, but I am already obsessed. I love projects like this because they feel so personal and you cannot buy something like this in a store. It is one of a kind, it fits my space, and it scratches my brain in the best way 🥰🧵
