Welcome. This is the first post of A State of Becoming.
I’m not here to present a finished product. The opposite. I’m here to document the process, applying the same framework I use in my psychotherapy practice @liamjwakefield while leaning into fear, discipline, failure, love, mistakes, and the search for meaning.
This account is my public notebook. A record of the odyssey of becoming the man I want to be. Here you’ll see the highs, the lows, and the work in between.
But this isn’t just about me. A State of Becoming is something we all live in. We are never finished. We are always in motion. Every day we face the choice: to remain as we are, or to take one step further into the unknown of who we might become.
So here’s my invitation, don’t just watch this journey, join it. Ask yourself, what are you becoming? What fear is calling you forward? What limit needs to be challenged?
This is the odyssey we share. Welcome to the journey.
... Read moreLife is truly a continuous process of becoming rather than a fixed destination. The core message in "A State of Becoming" resonates deeply with anyone pursuing personal growth and self-discovery. It reminds us that life is not about arriving at perfection but about entering the work of becoming, which means wrestling with fear, breaking inherited limits, and embracing resilience.
In everyday life, challenges such as fear and failure often hold us back from exploring unknown potentials. Yet, as highlighted in this journey, these very obstacles invite an opportunity for meaningful growth. Discipline, as championed here, is not simply about restriction but a path to freedom. It builds the framework for facing hardship and continuing despite setbacks.
Significantly, this state of becoming is a shared odyssey. Everyone is continually in flux, never truly finished evolving. The choice to engage actively with this process—whether it means stepping outside comfort zones or confronting internal tensions—is a powerful call to deepen self-awareness and meaning making.
Psychotherapy perspectives underscore this by encouraging inner work to understand and transform underlying fears and beliefs that limit us. The journey is integrative: it embraces love, mistakes, failures, and triumphs as parts of a reflective and authentic self-development cycle.
This approach connects well with the modern philosophy of growth mindset and resilience, emphasizing that growth comes from sustained effort combined with self-compassion. By positioning life as an odyssey, the process invites a compassionate, ongoing commitment to self-discovery, reminding us that every day offers a new step into our unfolding story.
In short, "A State of Becoming" encourages readers to actively participate in their evolution, recognize shared human experiences of change, and live courageously with the tension between limits and possibilities. It’s a celebration of the unfinished and a hopeful invitation to embrace the transformative process with openness and discipline.
