I don’t pray because it’s easy...

Prayer can often feel like a lonely and exhausting journey, especially when answers don't come quickly or even at all. I've personally experienced days when my prayers seem to hit the ceiling and fall back without change, leaving me questioning the purpose of continuing. However, I've learned that prayer is not about the immediate results but about nurturing a relationship with God and finding strength amidst challenges. When I read passages like 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray continually," it reminds me that persistent prayer is an act of faith, not convenience. Even when hope feels risky and silence feels louder than faith, continuing to pray serves as a declaration that we choose to trust God beyond our circumstances. In moments of spiritual fatigue, I don’t focus on having polished words or a perfect attitude; sometimes, all I can offer is breath, honesty, and a simple decision to stay. This raw honesty in prayer connects me more deeply to God and provides an outlet for my doubts and fears. Maintaining prayer through hardship doesn’t mean we won’t feel disappointment or pain. Rather, it helps us avoid being left alone with those feelings, as prayer offers a way to bring them outward and into a relationship of care. The practice of prayer in difficulty becomes a powerful way to acknowledge our struggles while reinforcing that God remains present and faithful, even when we can’t see progress. If you’re feeling like giving up on prayer because it feels pointless, remember that perseverance in faith is itself a spiritual victory. It’s okay to be tired and to struggle with your faith. What matters is the decision to keep showing up, to keep praying—not because we are strong, but because we trust in the unchanging nature of God’s love and presence.
