I read a post that was so on point it said :

"What do you bring to the table?"

Nothing. I bring nothing to the table.

I have a job that works around my kid's schedules.

I'm the alarm clock.

I do pickups and drop ofis.

I sign all the papers.

Lunch money. Fun money.

I'm at every school event.

I grocery shop. I cook. I clean.

I make the appointment.

And I don't miss one.

I have pep talks.

I dry tears. I kiss boo boos.

I protect.

l am the fucking table.

& YESSS to all of it 💪🏼 We do it tired, touched out, burned out, stressed, nonetheless we get it done day in and day out! Being a mom is the hardest yet most rewarding role in this world I don’t take it lightly🩷

4/14 Edited to

... Read moreFrom personal experience, being a mom means becoming the anchor for your family, no matter how draining the days can get. The OCR-listed schedule perfectly illustrates a typical busy day—starting early with morning shifts that involve preparing breakfast, getting kids ready, and managing drop-offs, followed by focused work hours, then transitioning again to school pick-ups and after-school activities. Each moment demands energy and unwavering commitment. What really resonates is the acknowledgment that the mom acts as the "table"—holding everything and everyone up, often without recognition. Beyond physical tasks like cooking, cleaning, running errands, and attending school events, there’s the emotional labor: pep talks, drying tears, protecting and nurturing. This multifaceted role often results in exhaustion and stress, but also immense fulfillment. In my journey, I’ve found that embracing the title of "the table" is empowering. It’s not about bringing flashy skills or financial contributions alone; it’s about consistently showing up and being the reliable presence that your kids can count on. Managing overlapping responsibilities requires organization and resilience, and celebrating small victories—like successfully making all appointments or simply being present for bedtime stories—helps sustain motivation. Moreover, incorporating moments for "nightly reset" or "me time," as hinted in the schedule, is essential for long-term well-being. Self-care isn't selfish; it’s necessary for moms to recharge and maintain their strength to continue supporting their families effectively. Ultimately, motherhood is a demanding but deeply rewarding role that blends perseverance, love, and sacrifice. Sharing these real-life insights helps others see the invaluable contributions moms make every single day—far beyond what words like "bringing something to the table" might imply.
