How My Oura Ring is My Birth Control ✨

I haven’t been in birth control since I had my IUD and it made me gain weight. After my second baby I realized I could use my Oura ring and the Natural Cycles app to track my cycle and ovulation

.

Natural Cycles works by analyzing a woman's basal body temperature (BBT) readings, which are taken first thing in the morning, along with her menstrual cycle information to predict her fertile window and indicate when she is most likely to conceive, displaying

.

"Green days" mean I am not fertile and "red days" means I am considered fertile and should use additional protection to prevent pregnancy

.

The Natural Cycles app essentially uses this data to calculate a daily fertility status based on the rise in temperature that occurs after ovulation

.

I have been using it for a couple of months and it has been spot on

... Read moreWhen I first started exploring non-hormonal birth control methods, I was a bit overwhelmed. After experiencing weight gain with an IUD, I knew I wanted something different, something that allowed me to feel more connected to my body. That’s when I stumbled upon the powerful combination of my Oura Ring and the Natural Cycles app, and it has truly been a game-changer for my fertility awareness journey. Now, you might be wondering, how exactly does a smart ring become a part of your birth control strategy? It all comes down to basal body temperature (BBT) tracking. Traditional BBT methods require strict morning routines – waking up at the exact same time each day to take your temperature orally. With the Oura Ring, it’s all done passively overnight. I simply wear my ring to sleep, and it seamlessly collects my temperature data, along with other health metrics, while I rest. This means no more setting alarms for early morning temperature checks, which has significantly increased my consistency and accuracy. The magic happens when this data syncs with the Natural Cycles app. Each morning, my Oura Ring data automatically uploads, and Natural Cycles analyzes my temperature alongside other cycle information. What I love most is seeing my temperature trend chart within the app. It's incredible how clearly you can visualize the subtle, yet crucial, temperature shift that signals ovulation. For example, my pre-ovulation basal body temperature might consistently hover around 97.47°F, and then after ovulation, it rises noticeably and stays elevated for a few days. This clear temperature graph makes it so easy to identify my fertile window. Natural Cycles then categorizes my days into 'green' or 'red.' 'Green days' mean I'm not fertile, and 'red days' indicate my fertile window where I need to use additional protection if I want to prevent pregnancy. The app’s calendar view, much like looking at a month-at-a-glance (like the November 2024 calendar shown in the app), clearly highlights these days, making family planning incredibly straightforward. It's like having a personalized cycle map. I've found that understanding these temperature graphs and the daily predictions has given me a deep sense of control and peace of mind. For anyone considering this method, consistency is paramount. Wearing your Oura Ring every single night ensures the most robust and accurate temperature data for Natural Cycles to analyze. I also make sure to log any potential disruptors like illness, alcohol consumption, or significant travel, as these can impact BBT readings and the app's predictions. The more information Natural Cycles has, the more precise its algorithms become. Beyond just birth control, this tracking has opened my eyes to my body's unique rhythms. I can anticipate energy levels, mood shifts, and even plan my workouts more effectively based on where I am in my cycle. It's truly empowering to have such detailed insight into my own physiology. If you're seeking a natural, data-driven approach to fertility awareness, the Oura Ring and Natural Cycles combo is an excellent option to explore.

Does birth control reduce our sexiness?
Hear me out… out of all the stages in our menstrual cycle ovulation is the one where we not only feel the sexiest, but look the sexiest. Our bodies are the strongest, our hair falls the best, our skin looks the best, and this is all a biological way of us attracting a man for reproduction. Ovul

What Birth Control did to my skin!😭
• Before Birth Control😖: At the age of 15, I started to have very severe acne. Over 100+ pimples and pustules on my face at one time. I remember I would wake up everyday with 3-4 pimples on my face… and it was devastating. 😖 As I got older (I’m in my 30s now), my acne became less severe. But I
