Support for Disabled Parents is Not a Hot Take.”
This shouldn't be a hot take but here we are: Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities deserve all the support and resources necessary to thrive as parents. Period.
It is extremely frustrating and profoundly sad that in 2025, people are still "up in arms" about disabled people simply wanting to be mothers and fathers 😠 and becoming mothers and fathers This archaic mindset forces capable, loving parents to fight just for the right to exist.
The reality is simple: Our population lacks the fundamental resources required to succeed. The barrier isn't capability; it's a systemic failure to provide accessible services, training, and community support. 🏘️ I am committed to making a change. It's time to shift the focus from judgment to investment. We need policy, not pessimism.
We need services, not skepticism. Let's demand a world where every parent, including parents like me, has the equitable chance to raise their children.
