low calorie air fryer tortilla pizza

I was craving pizza but I realized one pizza slice in itself is 200 calories, so instead I made the yummiest 10 minute low-calorie lunch with just 5 ingredients (plus seasonings!) 🍕

Ingredients:

• 1 low carb flour tortilla

• 2-3 tbsp pizza sauce or marinara

• 4 tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese

• 4-5 pepperoni slices (or any toppings you like)

• ½ tsp olive oil

• ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional, for flavor)

• ¼ tsp Italian seasoning or dried oregano

• Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 2-3 minutes.

2. Crisp the tortilla: Lightly brush or spray one side of the tortilla with olive oil and air fry for 1-2 minutes until slightly crispy. This helps prevent a soggy base.

3. Assemble the pizza: Spread sauce evenly over the tortilla, leaving a small border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, then add pepperoni and any other toppings.

4. Air fry: Place the pizza in the air fryer and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 4-6 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning!

5. Season & serve: Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor. Slice and enjoy! 🤤

One of these pizzas is about 200 calories, with 20g of protein depending on the toppings & tortilla - I buy the low carb tortillas from ALDI, they’re cheap, healthy, and amazing for quick meals 🙌🏼

... Read moreSince discovering this air fryer tortilla pizza hack, my lunch game has been completely transformed! It's truly a game-changer for those busy days when you crave something delicious and satisfying without derailing your healthy eating goals. I mean, who knew you could get a crispy, low-calorie pizza in just 10 minutes? I certainly didn't, and now I'm hooked! One thing I've learned that truly makes a difference is getting that tortilla base perfectly crispy. The original recipe suggests pre-crisping with a little olive oil, and I can't stress this enough! Don't skip that step. I sometimes even brush both sides lightly with olive oil or cooking spray for maximum crunch. You want it just slightly golden before adding your toppings. Another little tip for an even crispier base, especially if your air fryer is prone to hot spots, is to flip the tortilla once during the pre-crisp phase, or check it frequently. A perfectly crisp tortilla pizza is key to avoiding a soggy bottom, which is probably the worst pizza sin! Now, let's talk toppings! While pepperoni and melted cheese are classics, the beauty of this recipe is how customizable it is. For a veggie boost, I often add finely diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or even some spinach (just be sure to pat excess moisture out of watery veggies). If you're looking for more protein, cooked shredded chicken, turkey pepperoni, or even some lean ground beef crumbles work wonderfully. I’ve also experimented with different cheeses – a sprinkle of Parmesan or a blend of Italian cheeses can really elevate the flavor. Don't be afraid to get creative! A drizzle of balsamic glaze after cooking, or some fresh basil, can make it feel gourmet. For those looking to keep it extra healthy or cater to specific dietary needs, this recipe is incredibly adaptable. If you can't find low-carb tortillas, whole wheat tortillas are a great fiber-rich alternative. For a gluten-free option, use corn tortillas (though they might be smaller) or a dedicated gluten-free wrap – just adjust cooking times as they can brown faster. If you're dairy-free, there are some fantastic plant-based mozzarella shreds that melt surprisingly well. And for my vegan friends, swap the mozzarella for a dairy-free alternative and load up on veggies, olives, and maybe some plant-based sausage crumbles. It’s all about making it work for *you*. I also love that this isn't just a snack; it can be a quick, healthy, and delicious 10-minute lunch or even a light dinner. Sometimes I’ll pair it with a simple side salad for a more complete meal. It’s so much healthier and quicker than ordering takeout, and honestly, just as satisfying. The fact that it's a low-calorie homemade tortilla pizza means I can enjoy it guilt-free. I've even started doing a little meal prep by pre-chopping some veggies or having cooked chicken ready, so assembling these takes literally just a couple of minutes. It's truly become my secret weapon for healthy eating on the go!
