Locked in.

Being locked in during quarantine or extended periods indoors can have a profound effect on both our mental and physical wellbeing. From my personal experience, maintaining a structured daily routine has been crucial in managing feelings of isolation and restlessness. Incorporating regular exercise, even simple stretches or short indoor workouts, helped boost my energy levels and mood. Another important aspect was staying connected with friends and family through virtual calls and messages. Social interaction, even if digital, greatly alleviated feelings of loneliness. I also found it helpful to focus on hobbies and activities that I usually didn’t have time for before, such as reading, cooking new recipes, or exploring creative outlets like drawing or writing. Moreover, setting goals each day—no matter how small—provided a sense of purpose and achievement. It’s easy to feel unmotivated in such situations, but celebrating minor wins helped maintain a positive mindset. Lastly, paying attention to mental health was essential. I practiced mindfulness and deep breathing exercises when anxiety or stress arose. Being locked in can be challenging, but it also offers a unique opportunity for self-reflection and growth if approached with care and intention.
