the best workout apps you need to be using

if you follow me or have seen my posts before, you know I am a dedicated gym weightlifting girl and love to work out and be active. I frequently walk/jog (I don’t love running yet but i’m trying) and play pickleball as other forms of staying active. here I put together my favorite workout apps that I use on a daily basis and just make workout out and tracking things so much easier for me.

1. my favorite workout app of all time is hevy. I use this app every single day if I am at the gym (which is 5/6 days a week). I pay for premium which is $2.99 per month and for me it is totally worth it since I use the app so much. I have 6 routines for each day of my current split plus an ab/cardio routine I can add to the end of my day or after a workout. this app connects to the built in fitness app so everything can be help in one place. I am able to add the current weight I use for every exercise and each set of that so you can track when you move up in weight. it also includes a ton of progress information. I really can’t say enough good things about this app.

2. the gymshark training app is something I always recommend when people are getting into training. it has a ton of information on what workouts to do, splits, how to do each exercise, and it is shown by a realk trainer. it is also helpful for people wanting to try new things like conditioning, yoga, pilates, etc. this app is helpful for people who are new and not new to exercise and is super helpful. and so much is free. its like youtube but can help you be more specific.

3. I recently set a new goal for myself to try to hit 10,000 steps per day, especially during my 75 soft. the built-in fitness app, while it does track your steps, does not allow you to sit goals for steps and only allows you to send goals for moving, which was not super helpful to me. this is how I found stepsapp. I really love that. this app allows you to set a step goal and will send you notifications when you are almost halfway, halfway, almost at your goal, and your goal for the day. you can also look back and see step counts as far back as you want. I also love that I can add a widget to my home screen so I can easily see where I am, and I was able to put it as a item on my home screen of my watch so I can quickly check progress.

4. finally, we have the build in fitness app. I use this the most of course to track workouts, walks, stand, move, and exercise goals. if you’re taking a walk, you can start a workout, if you’re playing any sport they have it, literally such a great app which I assume most of you know if you already have an apple watch and are at all involved with fitness

The interface is super intuitive for tracking weightlifting sessions, and it even syncs with my Apple Watch, making the entire process smooth and hands-free at the gym. If you're serious about progressive overload, Hevy is a game-changer for monitoring your strength gains. Next up, the Gymshark Training app. This one is fantastic, especially for anyone looking for structured gymshark training app workouts or even just fresh inspiration. What I love most is the sheer variety and quality of the content. You get access to a multitude of free full workouts, from strength and conditioning to yoga and Pilates. When you're on a gymshark training workout screen, you'll find clear, trainer-made videos demonstrating exercises, ensuring you maintain proper form. It’s like having a personal coach in your pocket, guiding you through each movement. It's been instrumental in helping me explore new training styles and keep my routine exciting, preventing plateaus. For my daily activity goals, StepsApp has been a revelation. My old built-in app just wasn't cutting it for setting specific step targets. With StepsApp, the stepsapp app interface is so clean and easy to navigate. I can effortlessly set my daily step goal and the app provides real-time updates throughout the day. I particularly appreciate the visual cues and notifications – it's incredibly motivating to see when I'm halfway or almost at my target. Plus, the ability to add widgets to my phone and Apple Watch home screen means I can glance at my progress without even opening the app. Reviewing my step count history is also super straightforward, giving me a clear picture of my activity trends over time. Finally, while often overlooked, the built-in Apple Fitness app (or similar native fitness apps for other devices) plays a crucial role as my central hub. While I don't use it for detailed weightlifting like Hevy, it excels at overall workout tracking and providing a holistic view of my activity. It cleverly monitors my daily 'Move, Exercise, and Stand' activity rings, which are incredibly motivating to close each day. I can easily start a workout for everything from a walk to pickleball, and it logs all the essential data like duration, calories, and heart rate. It also serves as a fantastic repository for showing history of all my workouts and connecting with other health apps, consolidating my fitness data in one convenient place. It's the silent workhorse that ensures all my efforts are recorded and visible.
