I do this four step routine everytime I shave to avoid strawberry legs, painful ingrown hairs and to keep my body soft for days after☺️💕🍓

I got my body scrub at Walmart. It’s better than a loofah because loofah retain skin cells and then grow bacteria 🤢 throw out your loofah!

I use a men’s razor (specifically Dollar Shave Club) because they’re wayyy better than women’s razors. I noticed a difference in the softness of my aftershave and I cut myself less.

The end of the shower is always important. I always use body oil to lock in the moisture and then seal it with body lotion. Plus it makes my legs super glowy💫

Before even reaching for the razor, I make sure my skin is thoroughly prepped. A warm shower for at least 5-10 minutes is crucial. This isn't just for relaxation; the warm water helps soften your hair and open up your pores, making for an easier, closer shave. This is also the perfect time for exfoliation. While the original post mentions discarding loofahs (and I completely agree!), finding the right soft scrubber has been a game-changer for me. I prefer a silicone one because it’s hygienic and incredibly gentle yet effective at lifting dead skin cells without irritating my skin. Paired with a good quality body wash that’s hydrating, it sets the perfect foundation. When choosing any scrub for exfoliation, I lean towards sugar-based options as they tend to be less abrasive than salt scrubs, especially for sensitive areas. Now, for the shave itself. I can't stress enough the importance of a high-quality shaving gel or cream. This isn't just about lubrication; it creates a protective barrier, helps the razor glide smoothly, and allows you to see exactly where you've shaved. I like to let the gel sit on my skin for a minute or two to further soften the hair. And yes, a men's razor is often superior. From my experience, they typically have more blades, are engineered for a closer shave, and are surprisingly less irritating. When shaving, I always start by shaving with the grain first. This reduces irritation and is a great first pass. If I want an even closer shave and my skin isn't sensitive, I'll then carefully shave against the grain with light, short strokes, rinsing the blade frequently to prevent clogging. Finally, the post-shave ritual is where the 'aesthetic' truly comes alive. Immediately after rinsing off any residual shaving gel with cool water (this helps close pores), I gently pat my skin dry, avoiding any harsh rubbing. This is where the layering of body oil and body lotion comes into play. The body oil, like jojoba or argan, is fantastic for locking in moisture and giving that instant, subtle sheen. I apply it while my skin is still slightly damp to help it absorb better. Then, I follow up with a rich, hydrating body lotion that contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides. This combination ensures deep, long-lasting hydration, preventing dryness and contributing to that desirable glow. For an extra touch, I sometimes use a dry brush gently on my legs a few times a week between shaves; it boosts circulation and keeps the skin looking smooth and even-toned. Remember, consistency in this routine is key to maintaining those beautiful, 'aesthetic' legs.
