Texans vs. Snow

Growing up here in Texas, a genuine snow day is truly a magical — and often delightfully chaotic — event! One year, my neighbor used a giant inflatable pool float, which was definitely a sight to behold! It's all about ingenuity and making the most of what you find in the garage. Beyond the improvisational gear, a Texas snow day brings out a special kind of community spirit. Everyone's out in their yards, waving at neighbors, taking pictures of the rare white landscape, and sharing tips for staying warm. We often make *snow cream*, a simple but delicious treat made from fresh, clean snow, vanilla, and milk. It’s a tradition that feels uniquely ours. Yes, we might complain about the cold and the occasional power outage, but there's an undeniable joy and novelty in seeing our familiar landscape transformed by a blanket of white.
