Ni antes, ni después
I remember a time when I was so fixated on achieving a particular goal by a certain age. Every minor setback felt like a huge failure, and I was constantly stressed, thinking I was falling behind. The phrase 'Ni antes, ni después' – neither before, nor after – felt like a gentle whisper I often ignored. I wanted everything *now*. It took me a while, and a few detours I never planned for, to truly understand what 'todo llega cuando tiene que llegar' means. It’s not about being passive or giving up on your dreams. Instead, for me, it’s about putting in the effort, staying consistent, and then trusting the process. It’s about understanding that there’s a natural rhythm to life, and sometimes, the best things need time to mature, to align, or for us to be ready for them. I've had job opportunities that fell through, relationships that didn't work out, and personal projects that seemed to stall indefinitely. In those moments, the frustration was immense. But looking back now, each 'delay' or 'failure' actually led me to something better, something more aligned with who I am or what I truly needed. The job I didn't get made way for a more fulfilling role elsewhere. The relationship that ended cleared space for a healthier connection. The stalled project gave me time to learn new skills that ultimately made the project even better when I revisited it. This philosophy has brought so much peace into my life. It helps me let go of the need to control every single outcome. Instead of constantly worrying about the future, I try to focus on what I can do today. I try to enjoy the present moment, knowing that whatever is meant for me will find its way. How do I practice this? It’s not always easy. When I feel impatience creeping in, I remind myself of past experiences where waiting paid off. I try to be present, engage in hobbies, spend time with loved ones, and focus on my well-being. Journaling helps me process my anxieties, and meditation grounds me. It's about accepting that some things are simply not on our timeline. Embracing 'ni antes, ni después' has been a journey of self-discovery and trust. It’s taught me that patience isn't just a virtue; it’s a powerful tool for navigating life's uncertainties. It's about having faith that the universe is unfolding exactly as it should, and that my path, with all its twists and turns, is perfectly timed for me. So, if you're feeling impatient or frustrated with where you are, remember this simple but profound truth: everything truly does arrive when it has to arrive.
