Symptoms that baby is coming

3: light cramping

4: softened bowel movements

5: loose joints

I’m 35 weeks which means baby could be here in just 2 weeks!

And I would be so ready for him if he decided to come!

I had my first baby at 37 weeks plus a couple days and my next baby right around that same time frame.

I was always done with pregnancy at that point so I would help myself naturally go into labor by walking as much as possible, and plan on doing the same this time around as well!

I’ve heard that third time pregnancies can be much faster than other pregnancies, and I am hoping this is the case !

I’ve had a few signs that baby is coming, but I’m hoping he stays put for at least two more weeks, so that I can safely have my planned homebirth!

I have noticed that my stomach has dropped recently, which is normally a sign that labor is going to start soon, and some thing I’ve actually never really experienced before! I’ve also been having a lot of false labor and cramping, which is something that I have heard happens much more often with consecutive pregnancies, and I’ve heard firsthand that the more prelabor you have the faster your actual labor generally goes, so I’m very excited about this!

Although labor and delivery used to scare me, it’s some thing that I’m very excited about and very ready for this time around!

... Read moreIt's such an exciting, yet nerve-wracking, time when you're nearing the end of your pregnancy! As I hit 35 weeks, I'm constantly on the lookout for those subtle hints my body is giving me that baby will be here soon. Beyond the light cramping and loose joints I mentioned earlier, there are a few other key signs that many mamas, like myself, notice as labor approaches. One of the most talked-about signs, and one I've definitely heard about and seen in pictures, is the increased vaginal discharge, often referred to as losing your mucus plug. For some, it might be a clear or yellowish discharge, while for others, it can be tinged with a little blood, sometimes called 'bloody show.' This happens when your cervix starts to soften and dilate, releasing the protective plug that sealed it during pregnancy. It doesn't mean labor is imminent – it could still be days or even weeks away – but it's certainly a sign your body is getting ready! I’m keeping an eye out for this as it’s a pretty definitive sign things are progressing. Another big one, which I've thankfully noticed with this pregnancy (and the OCR mentioned too!), is when your stomach "drops." For me, it feels like the baby has settled lower into my pelvis, making it a bit easier to breathe but putting more pressure down below. My friends tell me I look like I'm carrying lower, and I definitely feel it! This 'lightening' sensation is a good indicator that baby is getting into position for birth. Speaking of contractions, let's talk about the difference between Braxton Hicks and true labor contractions. I've been having a lot of false labor lately, and it can be tricky to tell the difference! Braxton Hicks are usually irregular, don't increase in intensity, and often go away if you change positions, walk around, or drink some water. True labor contractions, on the other hand, become progressively stronger, longer, and closer together. They won't stop, no matter what you do, and they'll start to feel more intense, wrapping around from your back to your front. For me, with my previous pregnancies, the real deal felt like a deep, powerful tightening that just kept building. As the big day draws nearer, it's also common to experience a nesting instinct. Suddenly, you might feel an overwhelming urge to clean, organize, and prepare everything for the baby's arrival. I've found myself deep-cleaning closets and reorganizing baby clothes, even though I probably should be resting! It's a natural burst of energy that seems to kick in right before labor. Finally, remember that while these signs are helpful, every pregnancy and every labor is unique. If you ever have concerns or are unsure if what you're experiencing is true labor, always reach out to your doctor or midwife. They are the best resource to guide you through this incredible journey. I'm so excited for my baby to arrive and feel so ready this time around!
