Hey fellow journaling enthusiasts! I know how inspiring it can be to see new ideas, and I wanted to dive a little deeper into how I create my journal spreads, especially for those of you curious about junk journaling and unique page layouts. A junk journal is truly a treasure trove of memories and creativity. It's all about embracing those little bits of life that often get discarded – think receipts from your favorite coffee shop, that cool fruit sticker from your morning apple, or even a quirky menu from a new restaurant. Instead of tossing them, you give them a new life in your journal! For January, I loved collecting all sorts of ephemera. For example, I added a book receipt from 'after-words' and even a 'BANNED BOOKS CLUB' flyer, which instantly brings back memories of that day. Little things like postcards from trips, like my 'Greetings from CHICAGO' one, or even an 'OHIO' postcard from a road trip, become perfect little windows into past adventures. When it comes to junk journal page layout ideas, the sky's the limit! Don't feel pressured to make everything perfect. Some of my favorite spreads start with a simple theme. For my 2024 mood board, I just let my imagination run wild with images and handwritten goals. You can create themed pages like my 'ROAD TRIP TO CHICAGO' spread, incorporating little mementos like a 'SHEETZ' card or a '7-ELEVEN' wrapper. These aren't just decorative; they tell a story. Consider dedicating a page to a specific collection, like my fruit sticker collection. It’s super fun to see them all together, and it’s a simple, low-effort way to add color and personality. Or, if you have a special memory, like that delicious deep dish pizza from 'PIZZERIA UNO,' why not include the menu? It’s a fantastic way to jog your memory and relive those moments. For those of you who might be familiar with bullet journaling, junk journaling offers a more free-form, artistic approach. While bullet journals often focus on planning and tracking, junk journals are more about preserving memories and expressing creativity without strict rules. However, you can totally blend the two! Use bullet journal-style habit trackers or to-do lists on one page, and then dedicate the facing page to a whimsical junk journal spread. Getting started is easy. Grab an old notebook, a blank journal, or even just some loose paper. Start collecting small items from your day. Don't overthink it! Just start gluing, taping, and writing. Remember that joyful feeling when you see a quote like 'I'M GLAD I EXIST!' or realize that 'THE SEE IS NOT THE PEOPLE MATTER WHAT YOU DO.' Let your journal reflect your unique journey and all the little things that make you, YOU. Your journal should be a space for authentic self-expression, whether it's documenting daily emotions or showcasing your latest collection of quirky items. Happy journaling!
