Turning 25 can feel like a big moment, right? There’s often that little voice whispering 'nooo don't turn 25!' But for me, this year felt different. I really wanted to lean into it with peace and intention, celebrating how far I’ve come and looking forward to what’s next. You know, with my frontal lobe supposedly fully developed now, it felt like the perfect time to really focus on self-care and reflection. My ideal leisurely day starts with a quiet morning ritual. Forget rushing! I love making myself a warm, frothy matcha latte – it's such a comforting way to ease into the day. Then, finding a sunny spot, perhaps by a window or even outdoors, to soak in the morning sunshine. There’s something so grounding about those first rays of light. For my birthday, I made sure to carve out time for 'Bible time at the botanical garden.' It was incredibly peaceful to sit among the autumn foliage, reading passages like Psalms 100, 101, and 102, just soaking in the quiet. It’s amazing how much clarity and calm you can find when you unplug and connect with something deeper. After a serene start, my leisurely day often includes a bit of gentle exploration or treating myself. Sometimes it’s reading a large book in a cozy cafe, other times it’s a 'wee shopping spree' – and yes, that often includes a stop for some See's CANDIES! It’s not about extravagant spending, but rather about choosing small joys that genuinely make me happy. It’s about being present and enjoying the simple pleasures. Even getting a parking ticket at the botanical garden couldn't dampen the overall serene vibe of the day; it was just a small blip in an otherwise perfect, reflective birthday. For anyone feeling a bit overwhelmed by a milestone birthday, or just needing more leisure in their life, my biggest piece of advice is to design a day that truly nourishes your soul. What makes you feel relaxed, centered, and joyful? Is it a quiet walk, a creative hobby, or simply spending time with loved ones?
