Tips for buying furniture on Facebook Marketplace!

I’ve been buying and selling on Facebook Marketplace for 3 years now! I’ve honestly never had a bad experience, only great buyers and sellers!

I know this hasn’t been everyone’s experience, but I have some rules and tips I do to keep myself safe and to get good deals!

Most of the tips I share are from my personal experiences and what has worked best for me.

These tips work best for someone who has the time to be researching items and wants to save money on buying things secondhand! It is time consuming, but for me I’d spend the same amount of time trying to find a brand new product. So I love Facebook marketplace!!

Buying furniture secondhand can be a fulfilling experience, especially on platforms like Facebook Marketplace. To ensure a successful purchase, it's crucial to adhere to some safety tips: Always meet the seller in a public place and verify their Facebook profile for authenticity. Avoid sharing personal information or payment details via chat. When it comes to pricing, remember that you can often negotiate a lower price, usually $5-$10 off the listed amount. It's also wise to check the item's condition thoroughly and, if possible, observe the item for a week to find better deals if they arise. Many sellers give away items for free, simply to avoid the hassle of disposal. Be prepared to offer a pickup option to save costs. Additionally, some items can be customized or upcycled with a little creativity. For instance, you can plan DIY updates to make thrifted finds truly yours, such as painting or enhancing storage ottomans. With patience and these tips in mind, you can transform your home without breaking your budget.
