Step by step guide how to layer fragrances

1. Apply your body oil first to damp skin then go in with your body butter.

2. Use a perfume oil on your pulse points then apply your perfume sprays. Also spray on your clothes.

3. If you want to take to a step further, you can use a perfume body mist after but this not a must.

You can do perfume oil + perfume body mist if you want a softer scent to wear.

... Read moreHey fragrance fam! I'm so excited to share more of my personal tips on how to master the art of fragrance layering. It's truly transformed how long my perfumes last and how unique my scent feels. If you've ever wondered why your favorite fragrance seems to fade quickly, layering is your secret weapon! The magic happens because you're building a multi-dimensional scent profile, creating a 'base' that grips onto each subsequent layer. Think of it like painting – you start with a primer! This is why applying a good body lotion, cream, or oil is absolutely essential. I've found that using nourishing products like the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Firmeza Oil or their Brazilian Bum Bum Cream right after a shower creates the perfect canvas. Their rich, hydrating formulas not only make your skin feel amazing but also give your perfume something substantial to cling to, making it last hours longer. Apply these to slightly damp skin to lock in moisture and scent even better. Next up, let’s talk about mixing and matching your perfume oils, body mists, and main perfume sprays. Many of you ask, "can you layer perfume and body mist?" The answer is a resounding YES! This is where the fun really begins. I love starting with a delicate perfume oil on my pulse points – wrists, neck, behind the ears. This provides a concentrated, long-lasting burst of a core note. Then, I’ll follow up with a delightful body mist. For instance, if I'm going for something warm and comforting, I might pair a vanilla-based perfume oil with a Brazilian Crush Cheirosa mist, like the '71 Caramelized Vanilla & Macadamia' or '62 Pistachio & Salted Caramel'. These mists add another layer of scent and help diffuse the overall aroma beautifully. Don't forget to give a light spritz on your clothes too – fabric holds scent wonderfully! Finally, for your eau de parfum or eau de toilette, spray it strategically. Instead of just one blast, try spraying a cloud in front of you and walking into it, or targeting a few more pulse points. This ensures an even distribution without overwhelming your senses. When it comes to choosing combinations, don't be afraid to experiment, but starting with complementary families is key. The article mentions great pairings like Woody + Florals or Gourmand + Spice, and these are excellent starting points. For example, a crisp citrus (like lemon) can be beautifully grounded by a woody base, making it feel more sophisticated and less fleeting. If you have a favorite simple floral, try adding a touch of amber or musk (Ambree) from a body lotion or oil to give it depth and warmth. The goal is to create a harmonious blend that tells a story, rather than just two separate scents competing. A few extra tips to make your layering game strong: Don't overdo it: Start with lighter applications of each product and build up. You can always add more, but you can't easily take away! Consider the occasion: A heavy gourmand layered scent might be perfect for an evening out, while a fresh citrus floral combo is ideal for daytime. Hydration is key: The better moisturized your skin, the longer your fragrance will last, layered or not. Scented hair products: Don't forget hair mists or leave-in conditioners with complementary scents for an extra boost! Layering isn't just about making your scent last longer; it's about crafting a unique aroma that's truly *you*. It's incredibly satisfying to create a signature scent that no one else has. So go ahead, experiment with your body oils, creams, mists, and perfumes. You might just discover your new favorite way to wear fragrance!
