My butterfly effect 🦋
This is me Lisbeth, let me introduce myself. I am the second of three siblings. Since I was a child, I dreamed of studying medicine and specializing in cardiology. Unfortunately, due to financial issues, I had to put that dream aside since I was raised only by my mother, a woman who struggled all her life. And I never had my father's support. So, since I couldn't study medicine, I decided to study nursing, always back in my native country. Until one day, the opportunity to come to the United States came up. So, for the second time, I had to give up my dream. When I arrived in this great country, it was very difficult for me. I was alone, without any support. I worked in various jobs, such as cleaning, in a bakery, and in supermarkets, doing whatever I could find. I met a boy and got pregnant with my first baby. Imagine, with that, my dream looked even further away. After two long years, I was presented with the opportunity to study nursing here. I was very happy because I said, this is my chance to resume that dream that I have postponed so much. I entered school and studied for 9 months to be a nurse's assistant, phlebotomist, and electrocardiogram. I was happy and said, "My path is taking shape." When I left school, it was very difficult for me to find a job because of the language. I did not speak English perfectly. I worked for 5 months as an assistant and I had to quit my job because I separated from my partner and well, you know everything that a separation entails. I found out that I was pregnant again, I had my baby alone, today I am starting from scratch like when I arrived in this great country, only now I have two important reasons not to give up. My butterfly moment has been that after stopping my dreams on several occasions for different reasons, I considered what was preventing me from achieving my dream and nothing stops me so I decided to enroll in college. I thought they would not accept me because my English is still not that good but what do you think they accepted me and well here I am, almost graduating with my two babies fighting one day at a time and I am completely happy, my life has changed. 🦋🦋
