My visit to: Watkins Glen, NY 💚
Amongst the many places I’ve visited in New York so far Watkins Glen is a favorite!
Far away from the city and in the middle of the finger lakes lies Watkins Glen state park.
Once we finally found a good entry point to a trail promising some of the best views we got to walking! Through wooded trails next to the rocky river and under the misty waterfalls I was blown away by a new view just around each bend! We hiked for about 2 hours one hour in and one hour back. We didn’t have time to complete a full trail but got to see so much in the time we were there. We went in the evening when it was a bit cooler but before it got too buggy. If you plan to visit you should know most of the pathways are wet and muddy. Sometimes you have no choice but to step in a mud puddle in order to continue so be prepared for that. You might get water drips or misted at multiple points. It’s slippy, there’s steep edges and stairs and a lot of people so pay attention, be prepared and be safe. Bring water, bug spray and a light rain jacket .
