I’m planning a trip to: New Orleans 🖤

Help a girl out!

I’m planning a trip to New Orleans. Give me your best tips, tricks and recommendations! Good restaurants, spooky places, historical sights, dos and don’ts. Whatever you got helps!

I’ve done a decent amount of my own research but would love to hear more advice from people who have actually visited.

We of course plan to see a lot of the main attractions but give me those hidden gems and things to do out of town!

Thanks in advance! 👻🧛‍♀️⚰️❤️🍻French Quarter Louisiana New Orleans

... Read moreNew Orleans is a city brimming with rich culture, history, and unforgettable experiences, making it a top travel destination for many. Beyond the popular French Quarter, visitors should explore lesser-known neighborhoods like the Garden District, which offers beautiful antebellum mansions and serene walking tours. For a truly authentic experience, check out the vibrant street art and local shops in the Bywater district. Food lovers will rejoice in the city's diverse culinary scene. Classic Creole dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, and beignets are a must-try, with iconic spots such as Café du Monde and Commander’s Palace offering unforgettable dining. For unique local flavors, venture to hidden gems like Parkway Bakery & Tavern for po’boys or Coop’s Place for Cajun soul food. If you’re intrigued by the supernatural and eerie side, New Orleans is famed for its haunted history. Join a ghost tour through Vieux Carré or visit sites like the LaLaurie Mansion and St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, known for their spooky tales and voodoo lore. These experiences add a thrilling dimension to your visit. When planning your trip, remember the city’s vibrant festivals, such as Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, which offer lively music, parades, and cultural festivities. For those looking to escape the city hustle, consider a day trip to nearby plantations along the Mississippi River or the beautiful bayous of Louisiana. Transportation tips: New Orleans is extremely walkable, especially around the French Quarter and downtown. For farther locations, the streetcar system and rideshares make exploring convenient. Safety-wise, stay aware of your surroundings and avoid less busy areas at night. By combining iconic landmarks with local secrets and practical advice, your New Orleans trip will be packed with memorable moments, delicious food, and captivating stories that last a lifetime.

watch your surroundings & avoid public parking - I work for the tourism industry and I’ve heard plenty of people say they got their stuff broken into. Depending on where you stay everything is in walking distance. Cafe du monde is a must! Voodoo shops are always fun Ghost / cemetery tours French quarter has tons of great little shops &&& of course the food is amazing
