A calming spring break in Fort Lauderdale FL
This year for my birthday I got to take a trip to Florida ! It was short but sweet!
We arrived late, ordered Taco Bell for dinner and went for a late night swim.
The next morning we got up and drove about an hour and a half to Miami ! The traffic sucked but once we got down there we went to the Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science. It was actually pretty cool and not overly crowded. It was a nice combo of indoor and outdoor walking. The combo of history, art, science and the aquarium stuff kept it entertaining for all ages. Afterwards we took a walk around the property surrounding the museum to check out the gardens with fun colored dog statues. I’m sure the area or park has a specific name but I can’t seem to find it. It was right outside the museum though.
We stopped at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, FL for some quick fun but with no luck we headed back to the area we were staying in. We finished that evening with some relaxing on the beach. Then dinner at Sandbar Grill.
Our second and final full day we spent the afternoon on Lauderdale Beach relaxing, looking for shells and getting a sunburn. Afterwards we took a break to cool off and clean up in the air conditioning then took a tour down millionaires row on the Jungle Queen Riverboat. It would have been more interesting to go on the other tour that takes you to an island for dinner but that option is only available on certain days and seems to fill up a few days in advance. The tour we took was interesting, relaxing and informative.
That evening we took a drive up to E Las Olas Blvd to sight see, visit shops and get dinner at the The Cheesecake Factory. They had large portions and the dinner and desert were delicious!
Our final morning we got up early to watch the sunrise then headed to the airport to go back home!
Random notes:
We wet during spring break, was it busy YES but it was also avoidable. We stayed in an air bnb a few blocks away from the party area and had no issues. The airport going and coming were both bearable and didn’t have any long waits. We were able to find things to do and places to eat that weren’t crowded. Don’t let spring break keep you away from this area just be smart about when you go, where you stay and what attractions you plan to visit.
