Pregnancy is such a unique journey every time, and I’ve definitely noticed that my second pregnancy feels like it’s flying by compared to the first. At 20 weeks now, it’s amazing how quickly these weeks have passed. One reason why the second pregnancy feels faster is the experience factor. When you’re pregnant for the first time, everything is new and every little milestone feels monumental. You’re constantly paying full attention to every sensation, appointment, and baby movement. By the second pregnancy, you’re usually more relaxed because you know what to expect. Life with a first child keeps you busy, and your focus is divided. This shift in attention can make time feel like it’s moving quicker. From a physical standpoint, your body often remembers the pregnancy changes, so some symptoms or sensations might not feel as intense or unfamiliar — adding to the feeling that you're progressing faster. Additionally, the anticipation for the second baby can mix with the joyful chaos of parenting your first, making the weeks blur together. It’s also common to have less downtime for self-reflection on pregnancy milestones since your days are filled with childcare tasks. All in all, second pregnancies bring a beautiful balance of excitement and busyness. Sharing my 20-week update reminds me that although the experience feels faster, every pregnancy phase is irreplaceable and deserves mindful appreciation. If you’re expecting your second child, embrace the whirlwind – it truly flies by!
