Gwangjang GAON

Visited Gwangjang GAON at Jewel with friends and absolutely loved the environment and warm service. We tried their festival season special JJimak Chicken (S$39.90) — a generous portion that’s perfect for sharing.

The Deulgireum Makguksu (S$21.90) was a standout: cold buckwheat noodles drizzled with aromatic perilla oil and topped with crunchy perilla seeds. Super refreshing and light.

We also had the Classic Bibimbap (S$22.90), featuring a colourful mix of 13 ingredients including fresh vegetables and minced beef — hearty and satisfying.

Another highlight was the Modum-Jeon Platter (S$35.90), which included golden pan-fried bites of shrimp, pollack, zucchini, ground pork, and crab surimi, served with a tangy soy-vinegar dipping sauce.

For dessert, we ended with Hotteok with vanilla ice cream, a comforting sweet finish. Portions here are quite huge overall, making it a great spot for sharing dishes with friends.

The JJimak Chicken, a festival season special, is not only a generous serving but also pairs wonderfully with cold noodles like the Deulgireum Makguksu, which is light and refreshing thanks to its aromatic perilla oil and seeds. The Classic Bibimbap stands out with its vibrant mix of fresh veggies and minced beef, delivering satisfying flavors and a filling option for meat lovers. Additionally, the Modum-Jeon Platter is perfect if you enjoy tasting a bit of everything — from shrimp and pollack to zucchini and pork, all complemented by a tangy soy-vinegar sauce that elevates the experience. Dessert-wise, the Hotteok with vanilla ice cream provides a warm, sweet finish that balances the savory meal perfectly. One tip: Go with friends to share dishes since the portions are quite large, ensuring everyone gets to sample multiple favorites without feeling overwhelmed.
