My First Art Fight!
If you haven’t seen, I did artfight last month and these are my attacks! I had so much fun creating for everyone's designs, everyone was so inspiring and I absolutely cannot wait for Art Fight next year! I learned so much and really bettered my skills! And I finally became satisfied with the fact that I simply do not have one solid style, and that's ok because it lets me do even more! I hate that I got a bit rushed at the end, I have no idea how some people make so many! I'm going to try for more next year! I tried my best to tag everyone that I could, if you guys notice anyone that I didn't correctly tag let me know! Keep an eye out for upcoming individual process content on some of these!

For those who stumbled upon this post and are wondering, 'What even is Art Fight?', let me break it down from a participant's perspective! It's an annual, month-long art game held every July where artists are split into two teams (traditionally 'Team Werewolf' and 'Team Vampire', though it changes). The goal? To 'attack' members of the opposing team by drawing their original characters (OCs) or fanart of their characters. They can then 'attack back' by drawing your characters. Each piece of art earns points for your team, and it's all about friendly competition and creating a ton of art! When I first heard about Art Fight, I was a bit intimidated. The sheer volume of amazing art and artists was overwhelming, but I decided to jump in this year, and honestly, it was one of the best creative decisions I've made. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way possible. I learned so much about different artists' styles and character designs, and it genuinely helped me grow as an artist. I remember thinking, 'I FINALLY LEARNED MY LESSON' about being too rigid with my own style. The freedom to draw so many different characters meant I couldn't stick to just one approach, and that's when I realized that 'NOT BEING MARRIED TO ONE STYLE CAN BE AMAZING!' It opened up so many new creative avenues for me. The community aspect is incredible too. Seeing everyone's unique OCs and the diverse interpretations from other artists is incredibly inspiring. It's not just about winning; it's about sharing your creativity, challenging yourself, and connecting with other artists. Some of the 'attacks' I received were just mind-blowing! If you're thinking about joining Art Fight next year, here are a few tips from my first experience: Don't overcommit: It's easy to get caught up in the excitement and try to draw too many attacks. Pace yourself and focus on quality over quantity if that's what you prefer. Prepare your characters: Make sure your character references are clear and easy for others to draw. The easier it is for someone to understand your OC, the more likely you are to get an 'attack'! Embrace new styles: This is the perfect opportunity to experiment. Don't worry if your art doesn't look exactly like someone else's. Your unique take is what makes it special. As I mentioned, letting go of a single style was super liberating for me. Have fun! It's a game, so enjoy the process of creating and receiving art. The friendships and inspiration you gain are worth more than any points. My first Art Fight was an absolute blast, despite feeling a bit rushed at the end. I can confidently say, 'See You Next Year!' I'm already looking forward to July to jump back into the creative chaos and see what new skills I can develop. It's a fantastic way to boost your portfolio, meet new artists, and just have an amazing time making art. Seriously, give it a try!
