a poem for the wild women

I’m going to be honest guys, it feels weird posting poetry after everything that’s been going on in the world lately. I’m no good at writing political poems and I don’t want this to be a political page, but I do want to make it clear that I do not stand for bigotry nor is it welcome in this space. I stand by my sisters. I stand by humanity. I stand by empathy and compassion and understanding. I stand by mother earth. my heart breaks for the world right now. it breaks for the future of our kind. I don’t have hopeful words to share right now, but I am here if you need someone. I am trying to cling to love right now instead of fear, and my wish is that it will have a ripple effect on the world around me, but it’s okay if all we are doing right now is surviving and trying our best not to do harm. x Lorraine

... Read moreYou know those moments when a piece of writing just gets you? When a poem lands right in your heart and makes you feel seen? That's exactly how I felt encountering a poem about the 'wild woman' – especially the line "prowling the grounds of the life you've made for yourself in the rubble they left behind." It's such a vivid image, isn't it? It immediately brought to mind all the times I (and so many other strong women I know) have had to pick up pieces and rebuild. What does it truly mean to be a "wild woman" in this context? For me, it's not about being reckless or untamed in a chaotic sense. Instead, it's about being fiercely authentic, deeply connected to an inner power that refuses to be silenced or confined. It’s about owning your truth, your instincts, and your unique journey. And that "rubble" mentioned in the poem? It could be anything – a heartbreak that shattered your world, a career setback that felt like a personal failure, societal expectations that tried to box you in, or even just the daily struggles that chip away at your spirit. We’ve all faced situations where it feels like parts of our world have been torn down, leaving us to navigate what feels like ruins. The real power, the true essence of empowerment, comes in "prowling the grounds of the life you've made." It’s about not just surviving the aftermath, but actively reclaiming your space and rebuilding with intention. It's about recognizing your own strength as a woman, the incredible resilience that allows you to stand tall when everything else feels like it’s crumbling around you. This kind of empowering strong woman poem reminds us that our self-worth isn't dependent on what's been lost, but on what we choose to create from what remains. It’s an ode to the woman who finds her footing again, who gathers her inner resources, and who transforms adversity into a new, stronger foundation. Sometimes, in the face of this "rubble" and the injustices that lead to it, you feel anger, even rage. And honestly, that's okay. Poems about rage or anger can actually be incredibly cathartic. It’s a powerful emotion, and when channeled constructively, it can fuel your resolve to fight for what's right, to protect your boundaries, and to create a better, safer space for yourself. It’s not about being destructive; it’s about using that inner fire to forge something new, to empower yourself to make necessary changes, and to stand up for your beliefs. It’s about acknowledging that feeling and transforming it into a force for positive change in your life. This journey of becoming a strong woman, of finding your unique path after hardship, is deeply personal yet universally understood. It’s a continuous process of self-discovery, of tapping into that innate wisdom and courage we all possess. Every woman has a "wild woman" within her, ready to rise, to heal, and to thrive, no matter what "rubble" she might encounter. These poems serve as powerful affirmations, reminding you that you are a strong woman, capable of not just surviving, but truly flourishing and building a life that truly belongs to you, on your own terms. So, if you're looking for a boost, for words that empower and uplift, seek out poetry that celebrates the untamed spirit and the unwavering strength of women. It’s a beautiful reminder that even in the face of profound challenges, we have the power to create, to rebuild, and to stand strong in our own magnificent truth.
