infertility & motherhood
i think what's sweet and beautiful and true is that God knows our hearts, and wants us to bear fruit to His spirit and goodness.
He delights in our eagerness.
With all of the heartache and pain, I find myself struggling with the identity of where I stand as a mother. Out sermon at church this week talked about how identifiers or labels are meant for connection, not division. Yet, within our identit forethmost in Christ, we are free. I need to take a step back and not worry so much about fitting into a category to feel worthy or able to feel deeply/grieve.
All of this to say, I am a mom, and i will continue to become a mom.
while i haven't carried children- i've loved many as if they were my own, i've stayed with children at their lowest of lows at the edge of their bed as they cry wishing death upon themselves, i've mentored, been at the other end of a call, provided meals, transported and more. i've let my body undergo insane things at the hopes of one day carrying. i'm not a mom like most, but the truth is that I have been a mom and I will continue to be one to those around me who are in need of the love, grace, and patience.
I'm not sure what God has for me in terms of carrying a child, but i'm tearfully yet understanding that my journey to motherhood isn't step by step as i once imagined.
Gods plan wasn't for me to have an easy path...but he knew I could endure this journey & that my path to motherhood is beyond the lines of any category or label.
