Today has been one of the most defeating days I’ve had in a very long time.
It is so out of character for us to miss a show. This has never happened.
I always find a way to make things work, no matter what we are up against. I have always considered that my superpower. But today, I was left feeling completely helpless. Everything that happened was out of my control, and that is something I struggle to accept.
We did everything we possibly could to make it back from Florida in time for the Strawberry Festival. We tried to get an Uber, but the distance was too far and no one would accept the ride. At one point, we even considered breaking it up into multiple shorter rides, just trying to get a little closer each time, but that did not work either.
We hate that we disappointed everyone who came out hoping to see Thomas perform today. That is the part that hurts the most. We also sincerely apologize to the Strawberry Festival board.
The bus is repaired now and we are finally headed home, but unfortunately, we missed the show. I am also really upset that I missed the Stephen’s Bros at Sonny’s, but days like today are a reminder that not everything is within our control.
And just to clear up the rumors that are already starting to circulate, we were not in an accident. However, our brakes did go out, which is what caused all of this.
Again, we are truly sorry, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding more than you know. Some days just do not go the way you plan, no matter how hard you try.

Mechanical failures, like a brake malfunction on a bus, can create stressful situations overnight—especially when there's a commitment to show up for a large event like the Strawberry Festival. From my experience attending similar festivals and concerts, delays and cancellations are always disappointing, but they also shed light on the human side of performers and organizers.
When transportation struggles become the obstacle, it’s essential to have backup plans, but often those options are limited by circumstances like distance or availability of rideshares—as Lucy described. Breaking a journey into smaller segments might sound plausible, but when logistics don’t cooperate, it becomes a complicated scenario that tests patience and problem-solving.
What stands out in this story is the genuine apology and empathy toward fans and event coordinators. Missing a show can feel defeating, yet owning the situation with transparency builds trust. Sharing these moments openly helps the audience understand that some days just don’t go as planned, regardless of effort.
Additionally, avoiding rumors such as accidents by clarifying the actual cause prevents misinformation, which is common during public event disruptions. Such clear communication is vital in maintaining a positive rapport with followers.
For anyone facing similar challenges—whether in performing arts, event planning, or even daily life—this account is a reminder that resilience is more important than perfection. Sometimes, the best we can do is control how we respond, apologize sincerely, and keep moving forward. Experiences like these also highlight the value of thorough vehicle maintenance and having emergency travel alternatives, where possible.
Ultimately, while it’s tough to disappoint people who come out to support events, showing humility and openness helps everyone involved navigate tough times with grace and understanding.
