StoryGraph Description:

This book could appeal to readers who enjoy medium-paced mysteries driven by sharp multi-generational family dynamics and the witty charm of high-stakes amateur investigation.

So I read this a bit over a month ago in 19 days, and I have to say it was pretty good. I wouldn’t necessarily say the mystery left me speechless, but the book had a good plot and character development line that I was invested in solving the mystery as well as seeing it how it ended. I think character development was more of the focus — the plot moves but it doesn’t drive the book. I would read it again and pick it up again, but I would not fight people to read it, however.

⭐️Rating: 4.0/5

... Read moreHaving recently finished this intriguing mystery book, I found myself drawn particularly to the nuanced portrayal of family relationships that span generations. The story cleverly intertwines personal histories and complex dynamics, which not only add layers to the narrative but also create a realistic backdrop for the unfolding mystery. What really resonated with me was how the character development took center stage, making the plot more about human connections and less about a traditional chase for clues. This approach gives the story a richer emotional texture, which I believe will appeal especially to readers who enjoy mysteries that offer more than just suspense. Additionally, the inclusion of a high-stakes amateur investigation adds an engaging twist without overwhelming the story’s pace. I found that the mystery elements complemented the family drama well, creating a balanced reading experience that is both thoughtful and entertaining. If you appreciate books that combine well-crafted characters with a steadily developing plot, this read stands out. While it might not be the most jaw-dropping mystery, its charm lies in the witty and heartfelt exploration of relationships, making it a rewarding choice for mystery enthusiasts looking for depth and insight in their next read. For those interested in exploring similar themes, I’d recommend looking into novels that emphasize family complexity alongside mystery elements, as they often provide a similarly compelling and emotionally rich journey.
