Drawing Blue lock
As a huge Blue Lock fan, I absolutely adore capturing my favorite characters through fan art. There's something so rewarding about bringing their intense personalities to life on paper. Recently, I challenged myself to draw Sae Itoshi and Michael Kaiser's right-hand man, Alexis Ness, and I wanted to share my process and some tips for anyone looking to create their own Blue Lock drawings! Before even touching the pencil, I always gather multiple reference images. For Sae and Ness, I looked at various official art pieces and screenshots from the anime. This helps me understand their unique features and proportions. Don't be afraid to study! Capturing these small details really brings the drawing to life and makes it instantly recognizable as Ness. Sae, on the other hand, presents a different kind of challenge with his more intense and composed demeanor. His spiky dark hair is sharper and more angular than Ness's, giving him a more serious aura. When sketching his face, I concentrated on his serious expression, especially his heavy eyelids that give him a perpetually thoughtful or disdainful look. His jawline is often quite sharp, adding to his mature appearance. For his outfit, I made sure to include details of his collared jacket, paying attention to the folds and how it sits on his shoulders. Even in a simple pencil sketch, conveying his calm yet powerful presence is paramount. Since my goal was a detailed pencil sketch, I spent a lot of time on shading and line variation. For the hair, I used lighter lines for the highlights and built up darker tones for the shadows to give it texture and depth. For their features, like eyes and mouths, I used finer, more precise lines. Don't rush the shading! Gradually build up your layers to create smooth transitions and define the contours of their faces and clothing. I found that focusing on the light source helped immensely in making the drawings feel three-dimensional. Tips for Aspiring Blue Lock Artists: Practice Basic Anatomy: Even for anime characters, a solid understanding of human anatomy will make your drawings much stronger. Use Construction Lines: Light lines for circles, ovals, and lines help guide your proportions and can be erased later. Don't Fear Erasers: They're your best friend! Mistakes are part of the learning process. Study Official Art/Concept Art: Look at how the original artists convey expression, movement, and detail.
