Life before baby: Things I miss

2025/8/9 Edited to

... Read moreLooking back at life before becoming a mom, I realize how much I cherished the simple freedoms that now seem like luxuries. For instance, weekends meant sleeping in without a single worry about early wake-up calls or baby fussing. Those lazy mornings allowed me to fully rest and energize — something that’s much harder to come by now. Spontaneous plans were another joy I didn’t fully appreciate until motherhood. Whether it was a last-minute trip or a casual dinner with friends, the ease of just grabbing my things without extensive packing or scheduling was thrilling. Now, every outing involves careful planning around nap times and packing baby essentials. Getting ready used to be a calm, uninterrupted process. I could take my time selecting an outfit, enjoy a hot shower, and even indulge in a body scrub occasionally. Nowadays, getting dressed is a multitasking challenge with little one in tow — often prioritizing comfort and baby-wearing friendliness over style. Self-care routines have taken a hit too. Weekend pilates classes, regular facials, and manicures became rare treats rather than part of the norm. I’ve learned to embrace these moments when possible but often feel a twinge of 'mom guilt' when carving out time just for myself. Despite missing these parts of my pre-motherhood life, the unconditional love and growth motherhood bring make it worthwhile. The balance is imperfect, the journey messy at times, but completely fulfilling. For any mom feeling nostalgic about life before baby, it’s normal to miss those times. Yet, each stage has its unique beauty, and embracing both can lead to a more compassionate view of ourselves as moms.

i miss my old life – but i don’t want it back
Sometimes, I miss my old life. Not in a dramatic way. Just in small, quiet moments. I miss being able to leave the house whenever I wanted. Going out without planning nap times, feeds, or who needs me next. Deciding things on a whim—because my time belonged only to me. Back then, freedo

My heartbeats
Motherhood has a funny way of rewriting your definition of “beautiful.” Before children, life may have been quieter, more predictable, maybe even a little more glamorous. There was time for long sleeps, spontaneous plans, peaceful meals, and a wardrobe that didn’t revolve around comfort and chasin

A mother's sacrifice 🥺🫶🏼
Today my parents brought baby to my grandma's house and I got to do what the old me before having a child would do after I ended work. I slowly walked to the train then went to dabao some fries, walked home while eating fries, then ate an ice cream while watching youtube, took a long bath, w

Throwback to my 3rd tri nesting era 🤍
When I was confidently loading up my nursery cart… with no idea what I actually needed as a FTM 😂 Fast forward 6 months later, I’m side-eyeing some of my choices like… why was this even here? Safe to say, my nursery cart looks VERY different now. FTMs, I see you 👀 We’re all just figuring it

I wish I could pause this.
At our sessions, we always tell parents — be in the water. Not just to guide your child. But to be present. Eye contact. Holding them close. Letting both of you relax. Almost like a spa moment… for both. And sometimes I think — this isn’t just for the baby. It’s for the parent t

5 Things I wished I knew before being a Father.
Hey SGFC Fam! Happy Tuesday! Hope you guys are doing well! As we head towards November (Jie Jie’s birthday) I realised I’ve almost been a dad for 6 years now. 🥹 6 years of lessons, mistakes, and small wins. Fatherhood has been the hardest and most fulfilling role I’ve ever taken on - and I

Attending infant care from 2.5mths old!
When people found out that we were sending bb to infant care at a tender age of 2.5 months old, many comments we received were negative, such as: 💬 Oh no, so pityful, so young get sent away already 💬 Poor thing, will she be able to adapt well there? 💬 How come don't want to take care of her

Korea Trip while 8 weeks pregnant
✨18.05.2025 - We went to Korea in mid-May, right after my gynae visit with Dr. Beh at Thomson Medical (he did my cone biopsy surgery). Because baby was still so tiny then, I had to skip all the yummy sashimi and seafood 😭 — but it was worth it knowing you were growing safely inside me. Throug

🍼 Baby Buys: What I LOVE vs What I Totally Regret
Ok mummies… nobody told me baby shopping can be such a trap. The ads and TikToks make everything look like a “must-have” — next thing you know, your house is filled with random gadgets that baby never even touches 🙃. Some items = total lifesavers 🙌, others = pure waste of money + space. Here’s my h

The Days I Didn’t Know Were the Ones
Those days when he was 6 months old 👶🏻 I didn’t know then that I would miss it this much. I miss how he fit so perfectly against me, how carrying him felt so natural, like my arms were made just for that moment. I miss the quiet weight of him resting there, the way my body would get tired but m

Don't want kids to now pregnant with 2nd bb 🙃
Many people have asked me how I know when I'm ready to have kids, especially as someone who doesn't like kids 😂 It's really hard to explain because my views have changed multiple times over the years, from being neutral, to not really wanting kids, to don't mind trying for a kid, an

Before I Became a Mum, I Didn’t Know…
Before I became a mum, I didn’t realise how easy it would be to lose myself in the giving. I didn’t realise how full my days would feel, yet how quickly time would slip away. How love could be so deep it’s overwhelming and exhaustion could exist right alongside gratitude. How my heart could live

Reflections after 1mth of infant care: E-Bridge!
Penning down some honest reflections about infant care! Generally, sentiments towards it are quite mixed so while I was 90% keen to send my son to infant care, the potential downfalls were always at the back of my mind! Hope this helps anyone who is considering infant care for their child too 🤍

A wake up call: “you are unstoppable!”
Second month postpartum with our newest addition ♥️ — and I’m still learning how to build rest into my days. Recovery felt faster this time. I chose to go without an epidural and I truly believe my body bounced back better because of it. The pain was no joke but I’m proud we pushed through. B
