What’s everyone’s absolute least favorite household chore??
I’m a SAHM and honestly I HATE putting up the laundry. It just make me mad that we have so much clothes, but I’m extremely grateful to have clothes to wear especially for my daughter 🥹💖 BUT SHEESH do I hate folding it and hanging it up 😭 I’d much rather wash all the dishes in the house 30 times than put away one load of laundry 🥲 #doingthelaundry#neverendinglaundry#unfiltered#sahm#sahmlife

... Read moreIt's truly wild how a seemingly simple task like folding laundry can evoke such strong feelings! For me, as a SAHM, it's not just the act of folding; it's the never-ending cycle, the mountain of clothes that seems to multiply overnight. You get one load done, and suddenly there's another huge pile waiting, sometimes a mix of bright colors, darks, whites, and yes, even a dreaded red shirt that might bleed if not sorted properly. It's a visual metaphor for the endless demands of motherhood and household management.
I often wonder, why this chore above all others? I mean, dishes can be gross, scrubbing toilets is no fun, and vacuuming feels repetitive. But with laundry, it's the sheer volume and the tedium of arranging each item. It’s not just putting clothes into a machine; it's sorting, washing, drying, then the ultimate villain: folding. And don't even get me started on socks! Where do all the single socks go? It feels like a cosmic joke.
When I hear about "most hated household chore" surveys, folding laundry consistently ranks near the top. People often cite the time commitment, the repetitive nature, and the lack of immediate gratification. Unlike a sparkling clean kitchen or a freshly vacuumed floor, a neatly folded pile of laundry just means it's ready to be unfolded and worn again in a day or two. The effort-to-reward ratio feels incredibly skewed.
Some people swear by "laundry day" routines, while others prefer to do a load every day. I've tried both, and honestly, the pile still manages to intimidate me. I've even seen tips about folding laundry while watching TV or listening to podcasts to make it more tolerable. Maybe investing in some good laundry baskets or drawer organizers could make the process feel a little less chaotic, especially when dealing with a big mix of clothes, from delicate items to sturdy denim, and yes, that stubborn red shirt that needs its own corner.
It's comforting to know I'm not alone in this battle against the laundry pile. If there was a worldwide survey just for this, I bet many of you would agree that putting away clothes is the absolute worst. It's a chore that truly tests patience, and sometimes, all you can do is look at that pile, sigh, and wish for a magic fairy to come fold it all for you. So, what's your nemesis chore? Is it laundry, or something else entirely? Let's commiserate!
