This hit hard today

It’s funny how you can read verses multiple times throughout your life, but some days it just hits you harder and you feel Him speaking directly to you. Today was one of those days.

These verses really spoke to me this morning. Rejoicing through all circumstances is way easier said than done and I definitely felt conviction reading that. This is coming from Paul who was sitting in a Roman dungeon at the time of writing this to the Philippians. He’s rejoicing despite his hardships. He’s CONTENT. He’s able to have joy and peace in his situation. Why? Because of his relationship with Jesus Christ. He’s so bought in and has such strong faith that despite his circumstance he is still able to praise God. He’s able to praise Him through it all with contentment because Christ gives him strength through everything.

My devotion was a reminder of another person with incredible faith despite awful circumstances. Job was able to stay faithful through losing literally everything. He knew God was in control. God never left him even though it may have felt like it. He stayed with him and eventually restored it all.

We will go through trials. Life will bring hardship. We will have times of not feeling His presence. BUT He is ALWAYS with us. He never leaves. We can have faith that He will give us strength. We can find total contentment in a relationship with Him. He is truly all we need.

I want a husband. I want kids. I don’t understand His plan for my life. I don’t know why I’m single at almost 35. I don’t know if I’ll be married and have kids someday. I hope so, but today He reminded me that I can be content where I’m at. I can find joy without having all that I want. I have what I need. I’m blessed in so many ways. Countless ways. I’m choosing to soak in the word He had for me today and start living it out. Rejoice always. Thank You, Lord for giving me this word and for never leaving my side.

... Read moreThe exploration of faith during hardships is a profound topic. Paul’s letter to the Philippians emphasizes the power of joy in adversity, teaching us to find peace even amidst turmoil. Philippians 4:6-7 urges believers not to be anxious, but to present their requests to God with thanksgiving, leading to a peace that transcends understanding. Similarly, the story of Job illustrates unwavering faith despite devastating losses. Job’s plight, filled with trials that tested his very being, reminds us that God is always in control, even when circumstances seem dire. He teaches us to anchor ourselves in faith and trust that there is a divine plan for our lives. As we navigate our personal quests for happiness, whether it's seeking relationships, careers, or spiritual fulfillment, remembering to rejoice in what we have can transform our perspective. Recognizing our blessings, as pointed out in Philippians 4:12-13, leads to true contentment. This scripture highlights the secret of being content in any situation, reminding us that our strength comes from Him. When we are tempted to compare our lives to others or feel discontented, reflecting on such biblical truths can redirect our focus towards gratitude and faith. Carrying the understanding that God never leaves us is crucial. It comforts us in loneliness and doubt, assuring us that we are never alone in our struggles. Remembering to seek joy and practicing gratitude can illuminate our paths and remind us that what we need is often already within reach.
