When your approach feels off, it’s tempting to rush or ignore the discomfort, but taking a moment to recalibrate can make all the difference. For me, paying close attention to rhythm and foot placement during the approach helped build a foundation of confidence that carried through each jump. When the bar is raised, the physical demand increases, but the mental game grows even more important. Staying composed under pressure means trusting the mechanics you’ve practiced countless times. Instead of trying to jump higher by force, refining technique often results in better clearance. Missing a jump can be discouraging, but it’s also the moment where the most growth happens. I learned to analyze what went wrong briefly but constructively, adjust my steps quickly, and attack the next attempt with renewed focus. This mindset shift—from frustration to learning—was pivotal in my improvement. Tracking progress with a dedicated running app can also enhance both training consistency and motivation. Personally, using such tools helped me identify patterns in my performance, optimize my schedules, and stay accountable. Lastly, embracing a supportive and empowering attitude—like the encouragement to “run like a girl”—strengthens resolve and belief in oneself. Combining technical training with mental resilience and the right resources truly helps keep rising above challenges in high jump and beyond.
