Pmdd journey
After a two month long (October and November) eating what my body didn’t need. My menstrual and pmdd symptoms got worst ! Back on my sober (social drinking ) journey and also going cold turkey on coffee. Giving my body a reset. Not sure if I want to restart taking Zoloft again . I want to go the natural way but today has been real! Praying that this reset helps with lighter menstrual and easy pmdd week 🙏🏾#PMDD #hormonebalance #embracevulnerability #Lemon8Diary
Living with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) can be a challenging experience, especially when traditional treatments like medication may feel uncertain or undesirable. Many people, like myself, seek natural ways to manage symptoms by adjusting lifestyle and dietary habits. The luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, which occurs after ovulation and before menstruation, is often when PMDD symptoms flare up. During this time, hormonal fluctuations can cause mood swings, irritability, and physical symptoms. What we eat during the luteal phase plays a crucial role in supporting hormonal balance and reducing symptom severity. Focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods such as leafy greens, complex carbohydrates, and omega-3 rich fish can help stabilize blood sugar and reduce inflammation, both factors that influence PMDD symptoms. Additionally, reducing or eliminating caffeine and alcohol, as I have tried on my reset journey, may improve hormonal regulation and mood stability. The decision to go sober socially and cold turkey on coffee is a significant step as both alcohol and caffeine can exacerbate PMDD symptoms. Alcohol may disrupt sleep and hormone metabolism, while caffeine can increase anxiety and worsen mood swings. Giving your body this reset enables it to heal and adapt more naturally. Many women dealing with PMDD also explore mindfulness practices, gentle exercise like yoga, and stress reduction techniques to complement dietary changes. While medications such as Zoloft remain effective for many, the natural approach aims to empower individuals to listen to their bodies and find personalized solutions. I hope my journey encourages others facing similar struggles to explore balanced nutrition and lifestyle adjustments during the luteal phase and beyond. Recovery is not linear, and embracing vulnerability adds strength to the healing process. Together, we can share authentic experiences and support each other on the path to hormonal harmony and well-being.
