Hair Care I’ve been loving

I’ve been using these products for 2 months now and have some thoughts! Not that my hair type is oily in the scalp and drier at the ends. My hair is dyed purple and brown.

💗Odele- this dry shampoo is non aerosol and smells nice and light. It doesn’t make my hair feel heavy and last around 2 days without needing to reapply. It’s my go to dry shampoo. (I’ve been using this longer than 2 months but have been using it a lot more with my busier work schedule).

💗Marc Anthony- as far as leave in conditioner goes, I’m picky. Some make my hair greasier than it can already be but this one, whether on my whole head or just the ends, doesn’t speed up the “oily-fying” of my hair. It also smells nice and I’ve noticed I shed less without changing anything except this product in my wash/condition routine.

💗Eva NYC (H2Woah)- I typically use this more in the summer when my hair gets dry from swimming but have been using it just on my ends lately to help hydrate and it’s been helpful. It also smells really nice and I’d love a perfume that smells like this!

💗Eva NYC (Mane Magic)- this is my go to heat protectant. It’s lightweight in my hair and doesn’t make it oily like some other products have for me. I really like this and it’s easy to travel with.

💗Difeel- no there’s nothing proven about Rosemary oil or mint oil for your hair when it comes to growth, but I do really like the way this helps to moisturize my hair without making it greasy. I use this to oil my hair once every two weeks and I let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes before I wash it out with a double shampoo rinse. My hair has felt stronger and soft. I’ve been oiling my hair at least once a month for the past year and a half and just decided to try this brand over a different one and I like both this one’s just more affordable at about $6 from TJ Maxx.

The first wash helps break down product buildup and excess oil, while the second truly cleanses your scalp. When shampooing, focus the product and lather primarily on your scalp, gently massaging to stimulate blood flow without over-stripping. For conditioning, completely reverse that strategy! Concentrate your conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends of your hair, avoiding the scalp. This ensures your dry ends get the moisture they desperately need without adding to your scalp's oiliness. This simple technique can seriously impact how your hair feels day-to-day. Beyond washing, incorporating specific product types into your routine is absolutely key. A good dry shampoo, like the non-aerosol one I love, is essential for extending wash days, absorbing excess oil at the roots, and giving your hair a refreshed look and feel. This saves your hair from over-washing, which paradoxically can make your scalp produce more oil in an attempt to compensate. It’s a lifesaver for busy schedules! For those parched ends, a leave-in conditioner is a must-have. I always look for formulas that provide deep hydration without weighing my hair down or making it feel greasy. You can apply it to damp hair after washing, or even on dry ends between washes for a quick moisture boost. Similarly, while I primarily use my strengthening hair oil for overall moisture and strength from mid-lengths to ends, a dedicated hydrating scalp serum can be incredibly beneficial. Sometimes, oiliness is a reaction to dryness, and using a lightweight, balancing serum can help regulate oil production over time, fostering a healthier scalp environment. And let’s not forget protection! If you use heat styling tools, a high-quality heat protectant primer is non-negotiable. It creates a crucial barrier between your hair and the heat, preventing further damage and dryness, especially on your already vulnerable ends. My favorite is lightweight and doesn't leave any sticky residue, making styling a breeze. For my dyed hair, I've learned that gentle care is paramount to maintaining vibrancy and health. Using color-safe products is a given, but also minimizing heat exposure and using cool or lukewarm water for rinsing helps preserve color. Regular trims are also crucial to get rid of those dry, split ends that can make your hair look unhealthy, no matter how good your routine is. Listen to your hair; it will tell you what it needs! Ultimately, managing an oily scalp and dry ends is about balance and consistency. It’s about understanding your hair’s unique needs and giving it the right kind of care. Experiment with different product types – from a good dry shampoo to a nourishing leave-in conditioner, a reliable heat protectant, and a strengthening hair oil – to find what truly makes your hair feel its best. Your hair will thank you for the thoughtful attention!
