Daily habits that keep me grounded as a college student
College can feel loud. Everyone’s rushing, optimizing, doing more. These are the few habits I come back to when I need things to feel simple again.
1. Getting outside
Even on busy days, I try to step outside, a short walk, fresh air, sunlight. It’s the easiest reset and reminds me there’s a world beyond my to-do list.
2. Mat Pilates classes
This has become my anchor. Intentional movement, focusing on form and breath, and giving my body structure instead of burnout. It’s less about “working out” and more about taking care of myself long-term.
3. Solo coffee shop dates
Time alone, but not isolated. I’ll bring a book or my planner, put my phone away, and let my thoughts slow down. It’s one of the few moments in my day that feels fully mine.
4. Reading
Not for productivity, just to reconnect with my attention span. A few pages at a time, learning to sit with my thoughts instead of constantly distracting myself.
