How I Use Skincare As Primer For Makeup

HOW I USE SKINCARE AS PRIMER FOR MAKEUP:

As I’ve stated before, I rarely use primer underneath my makeup. I typically just use my skincare!

If I have to do a makeup look later in the evening, I will wash off my skincare and just do my skincare routine again before I begin my makeup!

I do like to use primers sometimes, but for my typical every day look this is how I use my skincare as my “primer” for makeup.

HOW TO👇🏼:

Step 1:

-make sure the skincare products you use and makeup have the same base ingredient (water or silicone based)

-you can figure this out by looking at the ingredient list on each product and seeing if the first couple ingredients are water or silicone

Step 2:

-once you’ve completed your entire skincare routine, let it completely dry before going in with your makeup

-this will help prevent pilling or potential patchiness with your makeup application

Step 3:

-when applying your base of foundation or skin tint, apply it with your fingers and rub it into your skin

-this will help the foundation / skin tint sink into your skin and look like your skin better

There ya have it! This is how I use my skincare routine as my primer for my makeup. Just make sure you follow these three steps when trying it for yourself to ensure flawless makeup application!✨

What do you use for primer?!💖✨

... Read moreI totally get the struggle of finding the perfect makeup base. For years, I experimented with countless primers, but I kept coming back to the idea of simplifying my routine. That's when I truly embraced the power of using my skincare as a primer! It’s not just about saving a step; it’s about creating a harmonious canvas that truly lets your skin breathe and shine through. One of the biggest game-changers for me was understanding the importance of base ingredients. It's like mixing oil and water – they just won't blend! If your moisturizer is silicone-based and your foundation is water-based, you're almost guaranteed to experience that frustrating makeup pilling after skincare. I learned to check the ingredient list for the first few items. If it's Aqua or Water, it's water-based. If you see words ending in -cone or -siloxane (like Dimethicone or Cyclopentasiloxane), it's silicone-based. Ensuring your skincare and makeup have the same base ingredient is truly the secret to a smooth application and flawless makeup application. When it comes to applying skin tint with fingers, trust me, it’s a revelation! I used to be a brush-only person, but the warmth from my fingertips helps the product melt seamlessly into my skin, creating an incredibly natural look. Here’s my refined technique: first, make sure your skincare has completely absorbed and dried down – this is crucial to prevent any pilling. Then, dispense a small amount of skin tint onto the back of your hand. Using your ring finger, dot a tiny bit onto your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. Instead of just rubbing it in aggressively, I like to gently pat and press the product into my skin, blending outwards. This method allows for buildable coverage where you need it most, without looking heavy. It truly feels like an extension of your skincare routine, rather than an extra layer of makeup. Speaking of makeup pilling after skincare, it’s usually a sign that your products aren't getting along or you're applying too much too fast. Besides matching bases and letting skincare completely dry between steps, try to use lighter layers of skincare in the morning if you’re planning on wearing makeup. A heavy night cream might be too much. If you do notice a little pilling, resist the urge to rub! Gently pat the area with a clean finger or a damp sponge to smooth it out. Sometimes, less is truly more when you're aiming for that effortless, natural look. For those wondering par quoi remplacer le primer visage (what to replace face primer with), look no further than your existing skincare. A good hydrating serum or a lightweight, fast-absorbing moisturizer can often do the job of a primer and more. They nourish your skin while providing a smooth canvas. I’ve found that a hyaluronic acid serum followed by a gel moisturizer works wonders for my oily-combination skin, creating the perfect base without feeling heavy or causing my makeup to slide. It's all about listening to your skin and finding what makes it happy and ready for a beautiful, long-lasting flawless makeup application.
