Ready to Obey
“Let every person be in subjection,” we hear,
To the “superior authorities,” we hold dear. (Rom. 13:1)
They “stand placed in their relative positions by God,”
So we walk the path that Jesus trod.
“This is why you are also paying taxes,” it’s said,
For these “are God’s public servants” in their stead. (Rom. 13:6)
“Pay back to all what is due,” Paul did convey,
“Tax to those who collect the tax” today. (Rom. 13:7)
Though some see laws as harsh or unfair,
We show obedience everywhere.
By our conduct, others see the way,
We are always “ready to obey.”
