African Spiritual Systems

ATR AKA (African traditional religion) is becoming popular and mainstream as more black people are returning back to their cultural roots before slavery and colonization. Before everyone starts jumping head first , there are certain rules and regulations that you should follow before attaching yourselves to any of these practices. I do things the proper way, not no new age s**t.

1.) YOU HAVE TO BE BLACK. YOU HAVE TO HAVE BLACK DNA .YOUR ANCESTORS MUST BE OF AFRICAN DESCENTS.THESE PRACTICES WERE USED TO PROTECT BLACK PEOPLE FROM OPPRESSION. Most ATR RELIGIONS ARE CLOSED PRACTICES. EVERYONE SHOULD NOT HAVE THIER HANDS IN IT.

2.) You have to identify your lineage. Just because you're black, it doesn't mean you should be practicing every atr. We all came from different tribes and had different experiences when it came to colonization and slavery. The boat dropped us off in different countries and we were colonizatied by different people. EX. if you don't have any ties to chattel slavery in the Unites States, hoodoo is not for you unless some of those spirits came to you. it's only for African Americans and no other racial group. yt people or non-black poc can't practice hoodoo. BECAUSE WHY. YOUR ANCESTORS were not black/african American. it's very simple to understand. Do your research and check your families bloodline.

3.) You have to do the deprograming work. you're going to be taking on a new way of living, and it's a lifetime commitment. it's not something you jump into and out off because once your third eye is open, the way you see humanity will permanently be changed forever.

4.) Understand that the spiritual world is very real, and if you're not ready to encounter supernatural spirits, please just stay on the other side. you have to be mentally strong and grounded. If not, you might experience spiritual psychosis.

5.) Stay humble and check your ego. A lot of unbalanced people who are narcissistic try to use forms of dark magic on people because they think they are so powerful just because they started learning about spirituality. Don't ever underestimate people based on appearance.A lot of people practice behind closed doors, and it's the people that you may not suspect. You don't know that person ancestors or lineage. you don't know how of a skilled practitioners they are or how many years they have been practicing. Don't judge people by their age because being older doesn't equal to having wisdom and knowledge. Some older people have arrested development(lol). I would only use defense magic if a person is trying to start a spiritual war with you , or they try to be racist or try to bully you. then you can take out those necessary tools. The purpose of using atr is too better you're life and to gain self discovery.

6) YOU CANT NOT PRACTICES AFRICAN SPIRITUALLY IF YOU HATE BLACK PEOPLE/COLORIST/RACIST/ANTIBLACK. This statement is very important. It's so many non-black people who are practicing atr and they have horrible relationships with black men or women. EX. YOU CAN NOT SAY YOURE A DAUGHTER OF OSHUN OR EZURLIE AND HATE BLACK WOMEN...its doesn't make logical sense. Those spirits are not stupid and they will clock your tea. some of ya be Hella colorist and racist and have the nerve to wear eleke on...that why some of ya are getting dragged throught the mud, being culturally exposed for being racist/antiblack or having karmic experiences. Those spirits will put you in situations that you have to confront your hatred of Black people . If you have the colonizers mindset stay on that side but you will not use black people energy to get upper mobility and not respect the people. Those energies will take everything back.....it's not a joke. I've seen it play out in many people lives. (btw) most of those people who have that mindset are working with trickster spirits. They are not talking to the orishia or any black spirits they are lying. Look at thier lives. most of those ppl were descendents of colonzers and probably still inflict harms on black women or men. They just use the religion to look more powerful when in reality they are not. Having hatred for black people while trying to colonized a religion/spiritual system that not even part of your lineage is delusional. All spiritual leaders of all these practices should be a Black man or A black woman that its.

7.) African spiritual systems are not evil .Everything depends on the person and how they use it. Pastors can be evil (a lot of them are btw) they can use the Bible to abuse/ control people. it's the same thing if a person uses voodoo to try to harm a person. Everything is about the intentions. You have free will and this is your life. you don't have to believe in anything because it's your choice.

... Read moreAfrican spiritual systems, or ATR (African Traditional Religion), are rooted deeply in the cultural identities of black people across the globe. These practices, often misconstrued as merely mystical or superstitious, hold profound significance as they serve as methods of resistance against historical oppression. Many individuals are returning to these traditions as a means of reclaiming their heritage and identity. However, it’s crucial to approach these practices with respect and understanding. The essential guidelines outlined in various discussions emphasize the importance of heritage. If you wish to engage with ATR, understanding your lineage is paramount. Practices such as hoodoo are particularly sensitive to ancestral connections, prioritizing the experiences of African Americans and their unique narratives. The multicultural tapestry of African heritage means that each lineage carries different traditions and beliefs, demanding a thoughtful approach when engaging with these systems. Additionally, mental fortitude is essential for those who delve into spiritual practices. The connection with the spiritual realm can be overwhelming, and individuals need to cultivate grounding techniques to manage their experiences effectively. Often, the narratives surrounding ATR diminish its seriousness, presenting it as purely folkloric. In reality, the spiritual world is significant, carrying repercussions both spiritually and materially depending on an individual's intentions. Moreover, the beliefs surrounding African spirituality are stretched beyond the common narrative of 'good' or 'evil.' It's about intention and the practitioner’s moral compass. Like any other spiritual system, while some may misuse these practices, they can also serve as powerful tools for self-discovery, empowerment, and resilience. Respect and open understanding are the foundations upon which these teachings are built. Therefore, continuing to educate oneself and engaging respectfully within these communities is essential for fostering a deeper understanding of African spirituality.

Never judge a book by its cover! My family is deeply rooted in Louisiana and there is a difference between Voudo and Hoodoo. Most unknowing individuals use the names interchangeably as if they are the same spiritual practices; they are not. Similar as they may seem. Thank you for sharing and educating those who may not know the truth about ATR. ÀṢẸ
