Is Drybar Hot Toddy Worth $31? My Honest Heat Protectant Review 💸🔥

I normally hate adding another product to dry hair before styling because there is always a chance it will make everything feel sticky, stiff or weirdly coated 😭🔥

The Drybar Hot Toddy Heat Protectant Mist is one of the few that disappears into my hair so well that I barely feel it.

I spray it through dry sections before using a curling iron or straightener, let it settle, then style like normal. The mist feels light and invisible instead of wet, oily or crunchy, which makes it much easier for me to use consistently.

And the scent? Honestly one of the best parts 💗✨

My hair smells freshly styled, the finished look feels smoother and I notice less of that rough, overheated feeling I used to get when I styled without enough protection.

Drybar says this mist is made for dry hair and protects against hot tools up to 450°F while helping reduce frizz and add shine.

Now for the price question 👀

At $31 for the full size, it is absolutely more expensive than a basic heat protectant.

For me, it earns the splurge because:

✨ I actually remember to use it

✨ it does not ruin my style

✨ it leaves my hair looking smoother

✨ the scent makes styling feel more luxurious

✨ it works on dry hair right before hot tools

✨ I would repurchase it

I cannot visually measure every bit of heat damage it prevents, but after using it repeatedly, my hair feels less rough after styling and the finish looks more polished.

So is Drybar Hot Toddy worth the money?

For someone who heat styles regularly and wants an invisible dry hair mist, yes. 💗

For someone who rarely uses hot tools or only wants the cheapest protection possible, probably not.

This is less of a random extra step and more like styling insurance that happens to smell amazing 🔥✨

Would you pay $31 for a heat protectant that feels invisible, or are you loyal to drugstore sprays? 👀

... Read moreSo, you've read reviews, and you're wondering how to get the most out of your Drybar Hot Toddy Heat Protectant Mist? I've definitely learned a few tricks that make this product truly shine, especially with its unique 'invisible' application on dry hair. For anyone serious about protecting their locks from the daily assault of hot tools, understanding the nuances of application can make all the difference. First off, don't just spray and go. While it's super lightweight, I find that separating my hair into smaller, manageable sections before spraying ensures every single strand gets that crucial protection. Think of it like painting – you want even coverage! A light, even mist, rather than soaking your hair, is key. You'll feel the fine mist, but it won't leave your hair feeling wet or weighed down. After spraying a section, give it a few seconds to settle – literally 5-10 seconds – before bringing in your curling iron, straightener, or even a hot brush. This brief pause seems to let the formula fully encapsulate the hair without making it feel damp or interfering with your styling process. For those with finer hair, a lighter hand is still best; you really don't need much. For thicker, coarser hair, you might find you need an extra pass or two, especially focusing on the ends which are often the most prone to damage and dryness. Remember, this mist is designed to protect up to an impressive 450°F, so you can trust it even with higher heat settings. However, as a general rule, I always recommend using the lowest effective temperature for your specific hair type to minimize stress. Many heat protectants feel heavy, sticky, or leave a weird film that can actually make styling harder or look less polished. That's usually my biggest gripe with other products. The Drybar Hot Toddy, especially with its light 130g aerosol spray, somehow avoids all that. It truly lives up to the promise of an invisible application, making my hair feel soft and natural, never stiff or coated. This is a huge factor in why I actually remember to use it consistently – because it doesn't add an unpleasant step to my routine. Consistency is key with heat protectants, and this one makes it effortless. And the 'Blanc Scent'? It's not just a pleasant smell; it actually elevates the whole styling experience. Instead of that dreaded burnt hair smell that can sometimes linger after using hot tools, you're left with a fresh, sophisticated, salon-like aroma. This contributes significantly to the 'smoother finish' and 'pleasant scent' mentioned in many reviews, transforming styling from a chore into a luxurious ritual. I know the $31 price tag can give anyone pause, especially when there are drugstore options readily available. But from my experience, the difference lies in the consistency of results and the *user experience*. Cheaper sprays often contain more alcohol, which can be drying, or heavier silicones that build up over time, leaving your hair dull and lifeless. The Hot Toddy seems to strike a perfect balance, providing robust protection without any of the common downsides I've found in alternatives. If you're someone who styles their hair daily or almost daily, investing in a product that doesn't compromise your hair's texture or leave it feeling coated is a game-changer. Think of it as investing in the longevity and health of your hair, not just temporary protection. It's like having styling insurance that actually feels good to use and delivers on its promises. After months of consistent use, my hair genuinely feels less brittle, looks shinier, and generally healthier, even with all the heat I put it through. For me, that's what truly makes the Drybar Hot Toddy Heat Protectant worth every penny and a repurchase-worthy staple.

Heat protection is vital to keep your hair healthy!! Heat is so damaging to our hair, using a heat protectant and turning down the heat can preserve hair health and also hair color!! Blondes who tend to use more heat on their hair can actually dull the look of their blonde hair when not taking care

I love the Dyson ID. It’s cheaper than the new Airwrap and it makes curling easy. I’ll give the Airwrap this: wrapping your hair around the barrel IS easier than using a clamp iron. But if you want a curl that lasts 24 hours, the heat your hair needs is the same no matter what tool you use. That’s
