Advent (Advent)
It is the sacred moment of preparation in the Christian tradition, which lasts four weeks before Christmas (December 25). The word Advent comes from the Latin adventus, which means "arrival."
This period focuses not on concern or haste, but on the "hopeful vigil," the preparedness of the reception, the first coming, of Jesus Christ as the little child, and the vigil, his second coming, in the future.
🎁 Symbols of Advent: Garland and 4 Candles
The main symbol of Advent is the Advent Wreath, a circle made of pine branches or green leaves that convey eternal life. On the wheel are four candles (most often three purple and one pink). One candle is lit a week on Sunday as a sign of increased brightness. Each candle is meant as follows:
The week conveys emotion / morality, meaning in preparation.
1 Hope (Hope) Lighting a Candle of Hope To remind that the arrival of Jesus brings great hope to the world.
2 Peace, lighting a candle of peace, to reflect on His entry as "Prince of Peace" and giving us peace with ourselves and others.
3 Joy (Joy) Lighting candles of joy (often pink) to reflect the ecstasy that the Nativity is near.
4 Love (Love) Lighting a candle of love, commemorating the great love of God that gave His Son to the world.
🙏 Mind Training at Advent Festival
This four-week preparation is an opportunity for us to organize our mind and create an inner space of peace by training ourselves in areas such as:
Stillness: Find a short time each day to take a break from the chaos and stay calm with yourself, allowing silence to fill the mind.
Meditation or Short Prayer: Use short words or simple sacred messages to review the meaning of hope, peace, joy and love that each candle conveys.
Letting Go: A moment of confession or forgiveness, letting go of frustration, or concern carried, letting the mind lighten and be ready to receive the arrival of something pure new.
💡 End Thoughts: Space to Grow in Peace
Advent teaches us that the vigil for the good is full of peace and encouragement, not stress or anxiety.
Everyone has a space to grow in stillness, so this Advent is a great opportunity to look back at our inner "space" with light, hope and love so that we can step into the Christmas season with a truly happy and pure mind.
