I have been seeing this guy and we had sex last week , he complimented me and said he could tell I go to the gym and my hard work has paid off. So I thought ok he likes my body. So we have sex again today and he asks me again if I go gym. I said yes I do and he responds with 'well what about your stomache'? I was abit taken aback by this, as it's the first time someone made a comment like that about my body. (I do have a stomache it's in proportion to the rest of my body but I still am quiet insecure about it) I played it off cool at first and said well yeah I'd love a flat stomache but I also love food too much to restrict my diet. So he said well you need to have self discipline and work for it. I was like wtf, I mentioned to him if he has a problem with my stomache and he waved it off and said he likes my belly but he said this as he wants to motivate his girl and make sure she looks good. I thought that was a shitty reason and I'm left feeling abit crap so wanted other peoples thoughts. Is it just a preference thing? #AskLemon8

Sometimes, it’s those little things that pop up elsewhere, like what some call 'back rolls,' that can send our confidence spiraling. I totally get it. We push ourselves at the gym, try to eat well, and then you catch a glimpse in the mirror – maybe even during a mirror selfie session in your favorite sports bra – and there they are. It makes you wonder, especially after someone makes a comment, if anyone really notices or cares about these subtle contours on our bodies.
The term 'skinny back rolls' might sound like an oxymoron, but it’s actually a really common concern. I've heard so many friends, even those who are super fit and lean, talk about them. It's not always about overall body fat percentage. Sometimes, it's about genetics and how our bodies naturally store fat. For others, it's about posture – slouching can definitely make them more noticeable. Think about how your skin creases when you bend forward; it's a bit like that, but some people naturally have more of a 'fold' in their skin there. Even simple things like an ill-fitting bra can create the illusion of back rolls, pinching the skin in a way that makes it look like there’s more fat than there actually is. So, if you're hitting the gym and feeling strong, but still notice these, please know it's often a normal part of how our bodies are shaped, and not necessarily a sign you're 'doing something wrong.'
When comments from others make us question our bodies, it's easy to get caught up in trying to 'fix' every perceived flaw. My personal journey has taught me that while it's great to work on my fitness and feel good in my skin, there's also a huge component of self-acceptance. Instead of obsessing over eliminating every roll, I've started focusing on overall strength and health. For those who are conscious about back rolls, improving posture through exercises that strengthen your core and back muscles can make a big difference. Think about moves like rows, planks, and Superman exercises – they help build a strong foundation that supports your spine and can make your back look smoother and more defined. And honestly, sometimes it's just about wearing clothes that make you feel good and confident, rather than stressing over what someone else might *perceive*. A well-fitted sports bra, like the dark sports bra in that mirror selfie, can make all the difference in how your clothes sit and how you feel.
Ultimately, just like with the belly fat discussion, the question of 'do men really care?' often comes down to individual preference and, more importantly, your comfort and confidence. Our bodies are incredible and constantly changing. Embracing our unique shapes and focusing on feeling strong and healthy, rather than striving for an unrealistic ideal, is truly empowering. Let's remember to be kind to ourselves and celebrate the hard work we put in at the gym!
boy bye, a real man loves all of you and will never make you feel like crap about yourself! thanks to health issues I had gained over 40lbs. my husband never once made me feel bad for it. he will encourage me when I talk about it but he loves me regardless!
My boyfriend is like 130 pounds max and I’m like 190-200 (I just had a baby, not that it matters) but he loves me exactly the way I am. My ex however would call me a cow. Just depends on the guy
