my boyfriend and I are about to finally move in
So my boyfriend and I are about to finally move in together after 4 years of long distance. I suggested we split household chores evenly since I’ll be working hybrid and he’ll be remote, meaning he has more time at home.
His response? He said he “already does most chores” and splitting 50/50 wouldn’t benefit me. That shocked me because in 4 years of him visiting, he’s maybe done laundry twice, vacuumed a handful of times, and never touched the bathroom, trash, or restocks unless I did it. Basically, if I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done.
What frustrates me most is if he just admitted “I don’t know how, can you show me?” I’d gladly teach him. But instead, he doubles down and denies, which makes me worry I’ll be stuck with all the housework once we move in.
How do I handle this before we actually sign the lease?
