*Definition of Epidemic: an outbreak of disease that spreads quickly and affects many individuals at the same time.

Autism is NOT a disease

There are individuals, like RFK jr, who are uneducated about Autism, unqualified, spread misinformation, and lies. People like him only harm the Autism community and contribute to the negative stigma about Autism. With zero evidence, he claims Autism is a preventable disease. Once again, Autism is NOT a disease. Anything he saids can’t be taken serious about Autism when he refers to it as a disease.

He has tried to claim in the past that Autism is caused by vaccines, which has been debunked by many scientific studies. In that hypothetical situation, which will never exist because vaccines do not cause Autism, I would rather my child have Autism and live a full life than lose his life from something that could have been prevented, like the measles.

He claims Autism is an ‘individual tragedy’ and ‘destroys families.’ The Autism Community will overwhelmingly disagree with both of those comments.

Not everyone is capable of being a special needs parent and that’s because they choose not to be. Some will choose to abandon their child(ren) because they have some kind of a disability. That has nothing to do with the child and all to do with the deadbeat parent.

I saw one comment say it destroys families because “a lot of men leave. Having an autistic child is hard.” That is entirely on the man, not Autism. I have been here since Day 1 because I wanted to be a father. Never once did it ever cross my mind to leave my child because he had Autism.

Thomas is one of the happiest people you will ever see and is so full of life. He is not ‘suffering’ from his autism. He is not ‘destroying’ his family. He has been a blessing not only for his family, but to those he comes across in his life. He is an example of what is right and good in the world.
