Using creativity to connect with my stillborn baby

When I lost my daughter Maila, the silence, emptiness, aching arms and hollow heart hurt so loudly. I hated that the world kept moving, while I kept trying to hold onto her presence.

So, I began creating. In fact it started from the OSHO meditation. I don’t believe in “moving on,” but moving forward with.

🖌️ Art allowed me time to look within, a pause to just express without judgement.

🏃🏾‍♀️ Running became more a challenge, it helped me feel close to her and it allowed me to hear her name when people cheered during the marathon. It helped me raise funds to charity too.

✍🏾 Writing gave me space to process, to tell her story, to remind myself and others that she existed.

🎶 A playlist became the soundtrack of my grief. To release my anger and express my love. The songs just get it.

🌿 Tattoo left her imprint permanently into my skin, as a reminder that she’s always with me.

🕯️ Rituals and meditation allow me to pause, breathe, and invite her into the present moment.

Every act of creativity can be a bridge between me and my daughter.

This is how I mother Maila. Through choosing connection over forgetting. Through creating spaces where her name and memory live on.

💛 Creativity doesn’t fix grief, but it grounds me.

Anyone else do something different.
