Atlanta Christkindl market
Today I was able to go to both the Atlanta Christkindl Market - Buckhead Village buckhead and Roswell Christkindl Markts today & tbh skip buckhead and head to Roswell. Buckhead is a bit cramped and super busy on weekends. The Roswell location was spacious, offered similar vendors, as well as stores & offered a free self-guided tour through the child-hood home of Theodore Roosevelt.
I personally enjoyed the market and learned a lot of history especially about Christmas tradition.
Keep in mind it is COLD but it’s also free outside of vendors. So button up and grab you a hot cocoa.
I say skip buckhead and head to Roswell.

Having explored both the Atlanta Christkindl Market locations, I can confidently say that Roswell was the clear winner for me! When I say it was spacious, I mean it felt like a proper festive village, not a cramped alley. Walking through the Roswell market, I had ample room to browse the charming stalls, admire the handcrafted goods, and truly soak in the holiday atmosphere without feeling rushed or jostled. What really made the Roswell experience stand out was the array of authentic German Christmas Market offerings. I found beautifully intricate wooden ornaments, cozy knitwear perfect for chilly evenings, and unique artisanal crafts that made for perfect holiday gifts. The vendors were friendly and happy to chat, sharing stories about their products, which added a personal touch I truly appreciated. And let’s not forget the unexpected bonus: the free self-guided tour through Theodore Roosevelt's childhood home right there! It was a delightful historical detour that added another layer of cultural richness to the day, making it more than just a market visit. No German Christmas market experience is complete without indulging in the food and drinks, and Roswell did not disappoint! I warmed myself with several cups of delicious Glühwein (mulled wine) – an absolute must-try – and savored warm, chewy pretzels. There were also stalls offering hearty Bratwurst, crispy potato pancakes, and an array of sweet treats like Lebkuchen (gingerbread cookies) and Stollen. The aromas alone were enough to transport me straight to a traditional European market. The variety and quality of the food made it a true culinary adventure. Now, for those 'cons' mentioned: yes, it was cold, and there was a fair bit of walking involved, but with the right preparation, it’s all part of the charm! My top tip for anyone planning a visit is to dress in layers. I wore thermal leggings, a thick sweater, a heavy coat, a hat, and gloves, and I was still grateful for the warmth of my hot cocoa. Comfortable, waterproof shoes are also non-negotiable, as you’ll be on your feet exploring. While the walking can be extensive, especially if you venture beyond the main market into the lovely shops around Roswell Square, there are plenty of spots to pop into and warm up. For me, the journey and the effort were absolutely worth it for the more authentic, relaxed, and genuinely festive Christmas market experience that Roswell offered compared to the more congested Buckhead location. If you're looking for that true German Christmas market magic in Atlanta, make the trip to Roswell – you won't regret it!
