Carnival Horizon 12/2024
#carnivalhorizon
Woohoo! Can you believe it? My Carnival Horizon cruise to the incredible ABC Islands in December 2024 was an absolute dream, and I'm still buzzing from the experience! After months of planning, it was finally time to embark on what I hoped would be a perfect end to the year. This isn't just a travel log; it's a monthly recap of pure joy and some practical insights I picked up along the way. Stepping onto the Carnival Horizon, I immediately felt the vibrant energy. The ship itself is a floating resort, and I loved exploring all the decks. From the delicious dining options – Guy's Burger Joint was a lunchtime staple for me! – to the lively entertainment, there was never a dull moment. I particularly enjoyed relaxing by the main pool with a good book, soaking up the Caribbean sun, and catching a few shows in the evenings. The staff were incredibly friendly, always going the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome. Our first stop was Aruba, and wow, Eagle Beach truly lives up to its reputation! The white sand and turquoise water were simply breathtaking. I rented a car for the day and explored beyond the main tourist areas, discovering some hidden gems. Don't miss a chance to try some fresh seafood at a local spot – the flavors are unforgettable. For those who love adventure, snorkeling in Aruba is a must; the underwater world is teeming with colorful marine life. Next up, Bonaire, which felt like a completely different vibe. It's much quieter and renowned as a diver's paradise. Even though I'm not a certified diver, I took advantage of the incredible snorkeling opportunities right off the shore. The clear, calm waters were perfect for spotting vibrant coral reefs and exotic fish. I also took a scenic drive through the national park, marveling at the unique desert landscape and the flamingo sanctuaries. It was a serene escape, offering a beautiful contrast to Aruba's bustling energy. Our final ABC Island stop was Curaçao, a truly picturesque destination with its iconic pastel-colored Dutch colonial architecture in Willemstad. Walking across the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge was an experience in itself, and I spent hours just wandering the charming streets, browsing the shops, and soaking in the rich history and culture. I highly recommend trying some local Kuku or Keshi Yen; the food scene here is fantastic. The clear waters also offered another chance for some amazing snorkeling or even a glass-bottom boat tour. Looking back at this December 2024 trip, it was everything I hoped for and more. My biggest tip for anyone planning a Carnival Horizon ABC Islands cruise is to balance your scheduled excursions with some free time to simply explore. Pack light, but don't forget your reef-safe sunscreen! This monthly recap barely scratches the surface, but I hope it gives you a glimpse into why this cruise was so special. It was truly an unforgettable adventure, and I'm already dreaming of my next Caribbean escape!
