Spetool Router Lift
I just installed the Spetool Router Lift in an old router table. The plate for the Spetool router lift was bigger than the old one so I used the included acrylic templates and a flush trim router bit to expand the opening.

Installing a router lift like the Spetool can significantly improve the precision and ease of your woodworking projects. From my experience, one of the key benefits of the Spetool Router Lift is its robust build and smooth height adjustment, which makes bit changes and height tweaking effortless compared to traditional router mounts. Since the Spetool lift plate is larger than many older router table openings, careful expansion of the table opening is necessary for a proper fit. Using the included acrylic templates, as well as a flush trim router bit, ensures a clean and accurate adjustment without damaging your table surface. I found that using a specialized template router bit—such as the Whiteside Router Bit 3000—helps achieve a perfect contour around the lift plate, resulting in a professional-looking installation. When handling the router table opening expansion, it’s crucial to measure twice and cut once. Mark the template placement precisely and secure it firmly to the table to avoid any movement during routing. Also, consider using a straight edge or guide to help keep your router steady and reduce routing errors. Additionally, upgrading with the Spetool lift can enhance your workflow, especially when paired with high-quality router bits. Consistent bit height control improves cut depth accuracy, which is essential for detailed joinery or repetitive cuts. In summary, investing time in proper installation using the provided accessories and a reliable template bit can greatly elevate your woodworking setup. This combo not only boosts your table’s functionality but also saves time on adjustments for future projects.
