Sketchbook Tour 🫶
Filling my sketchbook with lots of fun pieces these days! The fashion drawings always turn out so cute with just a brush pen :)
Also a couple peeks of oil pastels in this video. I recently got a cheap set and I’m loving trying them out and learning how they work. Would def need to invest in a nicer set eventually but for now these are working just fine🤍

I’ve found that using a brush pen really brings a unique flair to fashion sketches, giving them a lively, spontaneous quality that’s hard to achieve with regular pens or pencils. Experimenting with oil pastels has opened up a whole new avenue for me—though the inexpensive set I started with is far from perfect, it’s incredibly rewarding to learn their texture and blending abilities firsthand. When you begin using oil pastels, it’s helpful to think of them like a hybrid between drawing and painting. They allow for both crisp lines and rich, creamy color layers. One tip I discovered is that layering pastel colors can create surprisingly vibrant effects, especially when combined with some light smudging using your fingers or a blending tool. This was evident in some of my recent pieces inspired by Pinterest fashion outfits, which added more depth and warmth to the sketches. Aside from technique, I enjoy picking fashion themes inspired by events or characters—like capturing the vibe of Elle Fanning at her premiere or Coachella-inspired looks. These references keep the creative process fresh and fun. For artists wanting to try something new, starting with mixed media like brush pens and oil pastels is a great way to build versatility in your sketchbook. If you’re considering investing in higher-quality oil pastels, keep an eye out for brands that offer vibrant pigmentation and smooth application, which really makes a difference as your skills grow. For now, practicing with an affordable set is a wonderful way to understand their properties before committing to pricier materials. Sharing these sketchbook sessions has made me appreciate how art evolves through experimentation and play, encouraging others to embrace imperfection and enjoy the process.
