🌸 I Was an Extra on A Netflix Show 🎬🍿

I was an extra on a one of my favorite shows on Netflix. Here’s how it all started.

So one day, I was talking one of the actresses on the show. I did a little digging and found out who the casting director was for the background actresses.

At the time the show was not filming, but I kept an eye out, during this time, I found a few people that had already been an extra on the first season and started to get connections.. Because apparently the show had gotten so popular that now everybody I found out about where they were filming.

During that time they were Casting for extras for a movie that film filmed in the same locations and have the same director.

I immediately signed myself up, and got denied. Regardless, I showed up anyway there were so many people that they just started getting everyone in costume, including me.

Once everyone was dressed, they realize that the numbers were off, but luckily the friends I had made before filming were close to custom design and vouched for me.

After the movie was done filming some of other people that have been extras on almost everything that filmed in that town reached out and said they were coming for the particular show. They didn’t the public know because pots were limited. And this particular Casting 🎥🎬 director only liked working with people they have previously worked.

I applied the whole time they were filming. I never got a call. To my surprise on the last week of coming, a bunch of people had called out and they had reached out to me and wanted me to come.

It was one of the best experiences I have to this day. I got to meet the actor. I talked to get there and it was a 360 moment.

Thanks for reading 🌸💕

... Read moreBeing a background actress, or "extra," on a Netflix show is a unique experience that combines patience, networking, and a bit of luck. From my experience, the casting process is often competitive, especially for popular shows where extras help create authentic scenes. What helped me most was building relationships with others who had already been on set. These connections provide valuable insights about filming locations, casting directors, and how to stay informed about upcoming opportunities. Persistence is crucial. Even after initially being denied for a movie casting in the same location, I showed up prepared and enthusiastic, which eventually got me in costume and on set. Friends vouching for you can make a significant difference, especially when numbers or last-minute changes affect casting decisions. Filming as an extra can offer unexpected moments, like meeting actors and witnessing the behind-the-scenes flow of production. Although the spotlight isn’t on background actors, the chance to contribute to a show’s atmosphere and be part of something bigger is rewarding. Extras often return for multiple projects, especially in communities where many films and shows shoot regularly. If you're interested in becoming a background actress, keep an eye out for casting calls, build relationships with cast and crew members, and don’t be discouraged by initial rejections. Your positive attitude and persistence could land you a memorable role—as it did for me. For those passionate about acting or simply curious about the filmmaking process, being an extra is a fantastic way to experience the magic of storytelling firsthand.

Cool! What was the show? I might be an extra on a Disney pilot soon.
